I think offers that look a little more serious would be better. But the general idea is good.

Isn’t this coming close to what used to be known in live auctions as ‘a ring’, in which a group of professionals would agree/conspire not to bid against each other at the auction.

Once the item was secured at an unfeasibly low price, the ring would have a second, and secret, auction amongst themselves to decide which of them took which of the lots obtained in this way.

It's illegal in the UK, and presumably elsewhere too. 🙁

This wouldn't be a ring because it's not a closed room and it's an offer, not an auction. Rings only happen when bidders conspire not to compete with each other. That can't happen on eBay.

If you take a moment to think it through, you will see that what we were discussing is absolutely nothing like what you are talking about.

No doubt a bargain he kept for himself to steal the Tropic off of it (I don't know anyone who would do such a thing 😗)

haha yep - if it was running, I'd probably keep it cause it's pretty cool and a great size. But I have a growing pile of non-running skindivers that I need to service, and can't let it get out of control 😵‍💫

My random opinion is that the primary message a flood of low-ball offers will convey is that this is a watch in high demand. The price may even go up.

This arrived from a few pages back.

Couldn’t be more pleased!

Ooooohhh, the Polerouter from a different mother- that's is beautiful.

Have you been able to find out anything about it? The Nivaflex piques my curiosity- Nivada sub brand?

If you're looking for a his/hers diver, here is the hers. Seller says it's an ETA, stainless case, even comes with a tropic. Cute little thing although the name is rather unfortunate 😟

That's possible, but if the offers are semi-reasonable (as opposed to insulting), he may realize his expectations are too high.

LOL. Technically, men have them too, we just don't like to talk about it much. I think Brad Pitt has three of them.

I recently bought a 1960s GP Gyromatic from @seekingseaquest, and am very happy with it. GP don’t seem to publish a database of their serial numbers so although the seller says 1950s, it could be that or early 60s. Mine is a 34mm case but this looks as though it could be smaller. Either that or the seller has a big hand. What clinched my purchase is that the movements and the dials/hands are very pretty.

Ok here's a potential good deal, but it always causes me to pause when I see a "good deal" from someone whom primarily sells watches and watch parts. But it looks like the majority of his business is pocket watch movements, so maybe? IDK the last time I saw a mechanical chronograph that wasn't one of the super cheap movements for anything around this price: $70

I'm honestly tempted to get it, but I've spent too much on watches recently for my meager budget - especially when this will need work.
