i never in a million years thought i would spend time looking at a threat about watches under 1k but this spread is spectacular and some great finds!!
Best watches I've bought to date were listed and ended in the sub 500€ category... Sometimes the wording "for parts or repair" brings a gem or two to be resurrected especially in the vintage diver category.
Many of these bargain divers used off the shelf movements- Felsa,FHF,or Eta, if they are of a better grade. As long as they are cosmetically clean, parts are easy to find.
True and I especially loved the "dead mechanics" or "needs battery" on an early early skindiver. Too bad these get sniped so fast nowadays.
this is extremely time consuming to post a lot of these watches. it's hard because there aren't many great deals on ebay. sure, there are some good and fair deals but great deals are hard to find. and yes,..i'll give the usual disclaimer that there is some overlap determining great/good and vice versa depending on who you talk to. i really don't want to turn it into a "this is a cool watch thread" and post said cool watch with a high price tag on it.
FYI and anyone interested the totally cool Lator chronograph got relisted and I got the "Seller offered - 19% discount" so if anyone wants to haggle you obviously can!
seller sent me an offer for 140 eu......shipping to usa is 35 and i live it a high tax state, so it's around 2 bills for me to buy through the bay. i still passed
you can surf the bay for hours and not find any anything but overpriced watch after overpriced watch. gets so bad that if i spot a fair deal it's news worthy 220 eu shipping not disclosed https://www.ebay.it/itm/Helma-Skin-...5&algv=default&_trksid=p2047675.c100009.m1982Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
I just paid £60 for an original Tropic strap with curved ends on its own and I’ve seen them listed for much much more. So always nice to get one along with a watch ☺️
I need to find a tropic and a BOR in 19mm but am having no luck finding them at a price point below the watch I've purchased...
Vintage will be tough on the tropic- but 19mm Kreisler’s and Bambi bracelets etc are out there and still reasonable- just verify the length and lug sizes to be precise (I have gotten bracelets advertised as 18mm and they are actually 17.5...big difference. I gave up on trying to find vintage tropics- too much competition. I just ordered a few of the Uncle Seiko’s Tropics as recommended by a member here who knows the vintage ones well- if he says they are the best of the new ones out there, I will take his word for it.
the painted steel bezel doesn't seem that worn at all either. usually they exhibit awful wear patterns
The bezel is in nice shape but the red pip is an infill. The second hand has me raising an eyebrow- is it from another watch?
Ever make a really stupid mistake? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Automatic-diving-watch-philippe-precision-/184303864205?hash=item2ae95dc98d:g:zLwAAOSw4CdeyXFG&LH_BIN=1&nma=true&si=kUcUMAGucxRctYeQGZCt2fBBXUs%3D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network I missed out on this one just over a week ago through pure stupidity, if a listing has best offers I just have to make one even if the price is already great. Offered €10 less than the BIN price and 30 mins later somebody had hit the BIN. €10!!! Why!!!! Been kicking myself ever since and will continue to do so.
