The Elgin diver was delivered today and was pretty excited. I just assumed as per the ad said, it was recased. The ad even said beautifully done and based on the pictures it looked ok. Honestly I like the watch. Heading to hang at a lake house this weekend and plan on wearing it a lot. Seems to run well. But this case is not beautifully done. I’m guessing original case but been hacked up at one point. Thoughts?

For a beater coke-bezeled diver, I think you did pretty damn well. Go beat the living shit out that sow.

just saw it's blue not black on the bezel- Pepsi- apologies for offending those who prefer the "real thing".

Got another golden beacon!
GP 1969 Bulova, the sunburst dial under that awful crystal looks sensational. Plus the lume is bright and fluffy and the hands match. The plating looks decent and I can't tell if those spring loaded lugs have dug into the case yet but throw a padded strap on it and you wouldn't be able to see anything if it has. This thing will probably clean up beautifully.

This guy has put a bunch of new ones up- I don't know where he got them but holy shiiiit! Look through his other listings

What an impeccable seller! Great photos, shows dial out of case, always adds a reminder that these are small watches, etc. He's either a major Bulova collector or found an estate sale of someone who was.

I think I may have seen one what was questionable as a possible redial and some of the cases look like they may had been polished, but I've seen his stuff before and they're all like this so it must have been a collection.

If I'm not mistaken ABC is an old jewelry store. If so they'd have some advantages in finding great vintage watches.

BTW
For those interested in Caravel watches and movements it appears that Bulova rebranded a seven to seventeen jewel Citizen movement for many of its caravel watches.
"The movement is the Bulova 11DP which is a rebranded Citizen 0241 movement. This movement was available in two versions. One has 7 jewels and the other one has 17 jewels."

What have you guys done to me ?
I woke this morning to find that i had made an offer on another watch late last night and it was accepted 😲
Not sure if i purchased a manky dog or a little gem, 60's Swiss made Auto from a lesser known brand name.
Both purchases should be with me next week so i will do a post when they arrive.😀

I thought it was plated. The plating on one of the lugs has rubbed thin on an edge.

If I’m honest that offer did tempt me. I researched them afterwards and I got the feeling the only way I could feel okay about the purchase was to make a counter offer. Still, it seems like a decent entry level price.

Another skin diver lol!

This one is too steep in price. It was sold at a boutique in Beverly Hills, which looks like they over polished it and “serviced” the movement. It was in my cart because I was curious what the tax would be. Not to mention $43 in shipping?? I hate when sellers do this.

This one is tempting - all Stainless case, and amazing color on the lume. It's located in Poland. $155 with shipping
