路I remember selling an Osir or something like that ... Title was NOT ORIS NOT ORIS and the name, bidding went to 400$ for a chromed skin diver with a 1 jewel movement... I can't and don't want to understand the eBay/IG hype machine.
There are cheaper options, Benrus is one of the top options IMO... Get yourself a nice Lanco, Aquamax or Lip in that matter for starters and go from there.
I'll one day make a thread with a list of makers I've come to see in auctions and catalogs that are confirmed EPSA SC's... The 36mm size + the crowns is more than enough on the wrist even by todays standard and some no name options are to be had cheap.
Esentially all were the same ETA/AS movements EPSA case and it seems even the dials were made by the same company...
Or you can luck out and get an all stainless case automatic 17 jewel 20ATM rated watch like this one for $26 including shipping if people just aren't paying attention:
There is no dial damage btw - that's all dust. Probably tritium dust from the hand 馃槻
I won't buy the chromed case watches as I've said before - it keeps me honest with spending less, and I just don't see them as a decent value - they are almost always cheaper made ones that aren't worth it, despite maybe looking cool.
Here's a great example of what you are really referring to though - a Sears chome case "Compressor" that someone is trying to get $1K for. Sure it's NOS condition, but that doesn't magically make it good.
