I remember selling an Osir or something like that ... Title was NOT ORIS NOT ORIS and the name, bidding went to 400$ for a chromed skin diver with a 1 jewel movement... I can't and don't want to understand the eBay/IG hype machine.

There are cheaper options, Benrus is one of the top options IMO... Get yourself a nice Lanco, Aquamax or Lip in that matter for starters and go from there.
I'll one day make a thread with a list of makers I've come to see in auctions and catalogs that are confirmed EPSA SC's... The 36mm size + the crowns is more than enough on the wrist even by todays standard and some no name options are to be had cheap.
Esentially all were the same ETA/AS movements EPSA case and it seems even the dials were made by the same company...

Or you can luck out and get an all stainless case automatic 17 jewel 20ATM rated watch like this one for $26 including shipping if people just aren't paying attention:

There is no dial damage btw - that's all dust. Probably tritium dust from the hand 馃槻

I won't buy the chromed case watches as I've said before - it keeps me honest with spending less, and I just don't see them as a decent value - they are almost always cheaper made ones that aren't worth it, despite maybe looking cool.

Here's a great example of what you are really referring to though - a Sears chome case "Compressor" that someone is trying to get $1K for. Sure it's NOS condition, but that doesn't magically make it good.

this one was filthy when it arrived this afternoon. But a quick wipe and much better. It still needs a good bath and new crystal. Small but stunning with this dial.

Looks amazing. Doesn't look that small on your wrist with those lugs

Willing to bet that crystal will wet sand out. A stunner, and all time classic from Bulova/
-congrats

This one could be a steal. Very nasty crystal and not working but the dial and case are very nice. You can even see the whale poking through. Needs some love. https://www.ebay.com/itm/143714480312

C-shaped case Vantage (Hamilton sub-brand) for $20. Dial and lume is excellent, plated case looks outstanding-it's a deal- someone grab this.

These are new to me through this thread. What movements did vantage use?

If I remember they were usually branded Standard Time corp, but never gave much thought to who made them. One of the bargain Swiss OEM makers I assume like FHF or someone- I'm sure there has been a thesis written on them at some point.

I know. I know. I just checked and I have 12 packages scheduled to arrive from Ebay in next 5 days. I must have bought at least 8 other watches since I started looking at this thread. Not to forget the rabbit holes I have disappeared down looking at unknown watch makes. What have you done to me? Its my birthday soon so can allocate them to that excuse....problem is my wife vets everything coming in via the front door for covid. I have to beat her to the postman!

PS I saw that Vantage and was going to get it too but decided to leave it for others - $20 for an auto? No brainer.

PPS havent forgotten about sending you that parcel - its still here on my desk!

Lordy I need to get away from this thread!

Me too, it鈥檚 some form of collector crack.

I was trawling through the first ten pages of this thread seeing what the early finds were and found a link to an auction that was still live.... made a low-ball offer.....accepted. Help. ::facepalm1::
