Odd, I've been on since 2002, still didn't get it... maybe because they know they will get my money regardless. And I have eBay bucks, so that usually excludes a lot of the coupons they give out.
Yeah I've been trying to look up who gets it but not a lot of information. I mean for me I'm relatively new on eBay so it makes sense. But they should give it to you cuz 2002 was ages ago...
This one could be a steal. Very nasty crystal and not working but the dial and case are very nice. You can even see the whale poking through. Needs some love. https://www.ebay.com/itm/143714480312Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
This is interesting. Less than fifty bucks. 38mm Vostok seems to have a good reputation. I'm putting it here in hopes that it goes away and the temptation is removed. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Mens-vinta...chanical-watch-Vostok-USSR-1990s/133159794784Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network .
Another Russkie. 36mm Alarm. Very nice looking and in working condition. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Original-v...409899?hash=item1f155d1cab:g:AssAAOSwMrxfRQHHPurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
$705 or best offer. if this wasn't a big watch I would buy it and have it brushed. https://www.watchuseek.com/threads/fs-reduced-crepas-cayman-3000-ful-set-heaviliy-worn.5229471/
Nice one. Looks like your link got cut off. Here's the full link: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Mens-vinta...794784?hash=item1f00f13860:g:XKgAAOSwc65e-zbgPurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
Cheap misc diver, all stainless, ETA movement, case looks polished. https://www.ebay.com/itm/164364552391Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
Case is extremely polished, mine had a sunburst finish to it and sharp edges. Price is OK-ish but the case would need a replacement to be 100%.
I'm not saying that there could not have been one like this, but it seems plausible as it's a dive watch it was beat to hell and just nicely rounded off by the watchmaker servicing it. I've stopped pursuing skin divers aside from single and double crown super compressors due to the amount of franken and made up watches and the many mistakes I've done during that time. I think the only reason that i did not lose any money on them is that the obvious vintage diver craze is not dwindling and that the market is ready to swallow up crap "just because"...
I agree normally when it comes to watches that are higher up the food chain, but I have had cases rebrushed (even though it is technically missing material) with lovely results. I think it's important to remember that all of these cheap divers were exactly that- cheap, not just in price but generally in quality. Some of the SS ETA/AS/Felsa divers were actually nicely made (I have a few), and are nice alternatives to the dive watches so highly coveted- but a watch sold by Sears or Montgomery Ward selling on par with serious dive watches from the likes of Benrus, Bulova or Wittenaur is just market hype.
Ouch...just took a look at some Benrus Ultra-Deep Supercompressors...I'll have to avoid this thread for awhile and save up if I want to dip a toe into that pool!
Putting this AT here, 'cause it might be worth keeping an eye on. I used this auctioneer pre-lockdown when they didn't have internet bidding (made one really good score). You'd almost certainly have got this for less than 1k total back then - be interesting to see how being online affects the price.
I remember selling an Osir or something like that ... Title was NOT ORIS NOT ORIS and the name, bidding went to 400$ for a chromed skin diver with a 1 jewel movement... I can't and don't want to understand the eBay/IG hype machine. There are cheaper options, Benrus is one of the top options IMO... Get yourself a nice Lanco, Aquamax or Lip in that matter for starters and go from there. I'll one day make a thread with a list of makers I've come to see in auctions and catalogs that are confirmed EPSA SC's... The 36mm size + the crowns is more than enough on the wrist even by todays standard and some no name options are to be had cheap. Esentially all were the same ETA/AS movements EPSA case and it seems even the dials were made by the same company...
