Early 70’s Seiko’s with stainless cushion case and bright electric blue dial! This thing is like a beacon of joy! Seller says running and bracelet fits his “average” wrist. Fun looking watch for $160.

That electric blue dial is mesmerising 🥰
I'd be very tempted to buy it if I didn't already have a blue dial Seiko on its way to me.

Not a screaming deal, but a solid value.
Very nice Omega Geneve with sharp stainless case, lovely dial and nice bright yellow lume.
This isn’t a particular noteworthy model, but it’s got a lovely sunburst silver dial and looks to be in great shape (although need a good cleaning with a damp rag-yuk). If you don’t want to hunt around for a nice 35mm Omega, this should do it.

That would be a perfect way to dip your toe into the vintage Omega pool. A classic mid-century everyday watch.

Like the previous watch, but are willing to forgo the Omega name to pay less. Nice Cyma for under $100usd, i.e. $135aud. Watch is in OZ so shipping could add a lot, but if you are in Australia it could be quite the deal. Sounds like it needs a service, but that is always recommended.

Nice looking, the “clicking” while winding could be one of two things- one is easy, the other not so much depending on what movement is inside

Interesting you bring this up! This recent snag (thanks to this thread) 'clicks' when winding. At first I thought 'oh no, mainspring!', but it winds to a full charge and power reserve is about 30 some hours. So I'm guessing it's skipping teeth at the ratchet wheel.

I can solve the problem by taking it off your hands 😁

I’m not a watchmaker of course, but like a car, certain symptoms can be a tell-tale.
Please correct me and/or enhance this list of watch hunting trouble signs as needed:

Winding smoothly and it builds tension but then slips (like a spring unwinding -which it literally is) is the mainspring is shot- easy in some watches (just replace the mainspring) where you can get into the barrel- death to some obsolete brands where the barrel was sealed (hello zodiac)- whole new barrel or parts watch needed.

Winding and it skips every few revolutions but you feel it skip and catch, most likely worn pinion (broken tooth). Part may be available on eBay if you hunt for that specific part- or parts watch needed and possibly same problem on that watch (again- hello zodiac).

Hour and minute hands don’t move but watch is running and second hand goes around (you can hear it running fine), you can set them but still not moving on their own- canon pinion is loose- may be a simple crimp fix or may need a whole new canon pinion- either way, hands and dial need to come off and lots of disassembly.

Manual winding runs for a few seconds and stops- resistance in the train, possibly gummed up oil/dirt and needs full service (they should all have a full service anyway)- it takes very little resistance to stop a watch.

Watch won’t set but will run, crown doesn’t do anything but wind it- something out of whack in keyless works- dial has to come off again.

Feels like gravel when you wind it- gears with missing teeth- stop now!

Running very fast (like 15 minutes in an hour) hairspring is kinked or hung up (this can be a simple as it just needs to come out and go back in to undo the hang-up or it could be actually kinked which is throwing off the beat- that’s microscope work and skilled hand to fix that!)

How about this one: Automatic movement, watch hasn't been worn for awhile, pull out the crown, set the time, put it on your wrist and the second hand doesn't move?

Wind it 20 times, hold it face up by the strap and give it a horizontal whip back and forth a couple times to get the balance spinning. Happens all the time when mine sit for a while- they need a little jump start. If it doesn’t start- to the watchmaker it goes!

Worked like a charm, thanks

Inspired by the Skyliner upthread I couldn't resist one that came up locally. Mine is a bit earlier than that one it appears, as it has the older caseback type without the precise date. Thanks for the tip on this dial/model!

Awesome and glad I saw this. Tried it with a Bulova I had that wouldn’t run and this worked.

These are very attractive, slim watches with a front loading 694A movement.

I’m a fan of them but I already have two. This one is about twice what I’d hope to pay but, if you accept that it has actually been serviced, it may be worth making an offer.

Glad it helped. It’s a good jumper for a watch that’s been sitting and gets a little sticky. Even after a service, some are just old and fussy (I am old and fussy) and will start right up if you wear them every few weeks, but when you have 100+/- watches, some tend to sit for a year…or two before wearing them again,
That said, if it hasn’t seen a watchmaker in over a decade….

Here you go. I note also that the hands on this model are fairly unique for classic period Seiko (rounded tips). I can think of one Seikomatic 39J with something similar, but little else.
