More groovy mid-century today:

Lovely Stainless Jules Jürgensen with grey fade dial, applied markers and a great sunburst brushed finish to the case. Its grimy and crystal needs a wet-sand, but the finishes are all there including the JJ inscribed back which are usually the first to go when they are even in the same room with a polishing wheel.
It’s smallish at 30x37 but keep in mind that tanks and rectangular watches wear differently, so this may too. Bracelet isn’t anything special not original to the watch- this thing is screaming for a bold strap (cognac ostrich perhaps?) Price is nice at $125 but has make offer so this may be worth the size gamble- or just gift it to someone with small wrists.

An absolute classic, Stainless Hamilton date with sunburst cross hair dial and Arabic numerals at 6/9/12…everyone loves this design. Lume is bright yellow, as it should be, crown isn’t original but not a big deal. Looks like it’s beautifully slim, size is probably around 33- 34, but worthy of asking if that’s a concern. Price is outstanding for a working stainless Hammy, and they have make offer.

This is a lovely little piece. 32mm stainless Circle- a brand I have never heard of, but man, is this a stunner-red second hand and outer track! Despite the unfamiliar brand name, the specs are what matter, all stainless, ASchild movement, decent size (for the period) and a really interesting dial in good shape. Price is very nice for a watch like this, make offer is even better.

Probably 34 mm and very slim, monocoque case similar to a DeVille.

I'd have been tempted but for the fact that I rarely do dials with numerals and because I already have two recent acquisitions.

I don’t see a cross- hairs on those 😉

The Hamilton is tempting if below the $125, but am partial to no numerals and actually looking for no date as well.....

Bulova takes on the C-case in the last throws of their existence, literally 1977 was the year they sold off their Swiss plant, they were dead by ‘83…the death rattle of a former giant.

Stainless C-case with spectacular brushing and sharp lines, eta 2879 movement. The dial is an interesting blue corduroy (the only way I can describe it) with bright Tritium pips. Tuning fork crown, bracelet is aftermarket but who cares for $100.
Seller is in Romania, has good feedback, but may be a gamble- PayPal through a credit card is your friend.

More 70’s goodness- Stainless Elgin with cushion case and lovely dial with Robin’s egg blue outer track. Tritium lume pips look fantastic, has original crown and Swiss movement (most likely an eta during this period). Case shows some wear and brushing has been lightly polished, crystal shows crazing (generic crystal would be fine). I would hand rebrush this case (easy with crystal out and the right grit) replace the crystal and put this on a fun strap.

Not an eBay auction, but an opportunity at a good value:

The new Bulova Milships is a modern “reissue” of a watch that never happened- a prototype at the Fifty Fathoms form factor Mil-spec that they didn’t move forward with.

https://www.bulova.com/us/en/product/98A266.html

There is the LE with a Swiss movement and the diver helmet (for about $2k), and the standard production with a Miyota and regular box for around $800. Bulova themselves are offering a 10% coupon on these.
Jared is currently offering them on sale for $671,

but I found a coupon code for an additional 10% that worked when I put it in their site (I didn’t go to checkout but it accepted it in the cart) coupon code 1CAB0000065343

with the coupon it brings it down to around $600 which is actually the best price I found online- even better than used ones on eBay.
At $600 it’s competitive with micro brands doing a FF style like Helson. The market is over saturated for this style, but the Bulova is damn cool.

Very cool watch. Couple of interesting features:

"It has a unique paper strip on the dial that indicates if moisture has entered the watch, and will change color should the water resistance - up to 200 meters - ever start to fail. Another unique feature of this watch is that the top ring will only rotate once it is pressed down."

Getting cooler by the second.
The hands are the standout here. No other Mil-diver style I have seen used these, and I can see Bulova using them in the original prototype in 1957 as this was the style of hands used at the time, by them for military watches.

Everybody attributes this style to Blancpain and it is commonly considered that all others of this style are an “homage”, but BP was just making these to a spec specified by the US government, and other companies were also vying for the contracts as well.

No, I meant this one.......

Yeah, I got lucky on that one. You could barely see through the cracked crystal when I got it, that dial was underneath
