Today is the day of the big tank- this time an iconic Hamilton TV case. We have a member here who grabbed the last one that popped up and it was surprisingly large if I recall. Price isn’t bad, it’s not perfect and has some dial spots but looks great and has original crown - has make offer.

And here it is. A fun piece indeed.

Oh- that’s the last one that popped up and he grabbed it. The one on eBay I posted today is still there for the taking.

I've been under the impression that a "tank" watch is rectangular rather than square and with lugs the same width as the case body. The lugs resembling very slightly the fenders over the treads.
The Tonneau is recognized by its barrel like silhouette.
Square is pretty much a simple square with TV dials being rounded at the corners like the older TV screens.
The "Cushion" case being more or less square with rounded exterior corners and a sort of fat more or less convex front.
Am I correct?

Well Cartier calls the tank the tank and the Santos with square dial the carrée which is just… square in French. But it sounds more impressive since French tends to do that.

Like J'ai utilisé un piston pour débloquer la merde coincée dans la plomberie sounds like some elegant description of a watch movement but it isn’t.

I believe you are correct, I just use “tank style” for ease, but it’s actually just lazy. I’m sure I can find the exact name of each shape- but in the time it would take me to research and identify them, the watch may sell and someone here could miss the watch 😉

Ya know, there is a lesson that I am slowly learning: Sometimes, you need to look at a watch in and of itself. Don't compare it to things on your wish list, don't judge it against the so-called "grail watches." Just slow down and view a watch as a world unto itself.

I'd post a pic of one but, as I said, it's a lesson I'm slowly learning...

Hallelujah! Every watch I own I feel that way about. I can wear a $35 Gruen bumper one day (love the ping-pong soundtrack) and a Navitimer the next (wave that arm too fast and the rotor on the 7750 may take flight) - both are totally their own experience and bring as much joy.

14k Jules Jergensen with Florentine bezel. This watch is truly elegant and at 33mm is a great size for a formal watch. Scratches on the crystal should polish/ wet- sand out.

Oh- yay!! You bought that one! That was a bargain.
Oh- maybe you didn’t- just looked and it’s not sold. It’s a cool watch
Gone already. Thanks JW and @Scarecrow Boat. I will miss it but it is getting a good home.
