    Iirc there were logical reasons why some watchmakers used "IIII" instead of the correct latin numeral "IV" for number four. I think it had something to do with symmetry and readability. ::book::

    Both are correct. I think the IIII four is Eastern Roman Empire as used in the Greek Orthodox countries of Eastern Europe.

    About the time mechanical clocks first came into use the Medical profession still used another alternative four, it was IIIJ.

    How many still have the medallion on the back? That’s the sore spot with these Sky Lights.
