I just looked to see which one it is, I don’t know how that went for that little.....I’d give you a big hug right now if we weren’t in Covid times.

I'd call it more than micro-scratching. I get real tired of all the claims of "may have small marks due to handling and storage." This watch was worn, in my opinion. And saying "NOS condition" (as opposed to just "NOS") is another ploy aimed at people looking for real NOS watches. NOS condition doesn't mean anything; it's like saying "my wife isn't pregnant, but she's in a pregnant condition."

I agree. “New Old Stock” means it’s in new condition, preferably unopened, and has been stashed away in a warehouse or stockroom, because it’s never been sold retail, hence it is still “stock”. In terms of condition, it should be “as new” or “mint”. There may be some age related deterioration to papers or packaging but unless there are perishable elements to the watch itself it should be as clean as the day it left the factory.

Anything described as “mint” should look like it has been untouched. It doesn’t need to be NOS. I bought a new watch but decided it was too similar to another watch I wear and prefer, so I have kept it in its packaging, including the plastic protector covering the bracelet, and put it away in the loft. It is in mint condition and will still be so whenever I decide to do something with it. But it won’t be NOS because it won’t be old stock, it’ll be a mint condition secondhand watch.

Wear it, love it, do what ever you want to it!

Just swing that arm behind your back when walking through a doorway!

Totally agree. I didn’t look closely enough at that one- need to stop eBay shopping after the 2nd snifter.
I’ve said in other threads- I am dumbfounded how loose condition is considered in this hobby. I have collected camera equipment, coins, baseball cards (still have that collection which is apparently now worthless), and guns- all have strict standards and are rated in percentage of mint/new. One could never sell a coin with a description of “ excellent condition-showing a lovely smooth time worn finish with warm muddled patina like a starry night sky”- ummm- that’s called loose change.

Omega 166.122 I believe- aka the Stingray/Cobra. This is a rather rare early 70’s watch with an interesting design history- a few threads here on them. This one looks excellent, the brushing is intact, lume is bright yellow, bezel is in great shape crystal and crown are signed- looks like it’s all there.
I think the price is fair compared to the very few I have seen listed but I don’t know the market on these.
I doesn’t get more 70’s than this- and in full Omega glory!
It’s a big sucker at 43mm (from what I can find) and looks fairly thick. If this were 40mm, I probably would have bought it.

I’m developing a taste for seventies style. Those were my teenage years and so it’s the nostalgia sweet-spot for me. I notice that a few manufacturers are issuing retro LED watches, and LCD has been back for a while. I have a feeling that the 1970s is about to enjoy a resurgence in interest so this could be a watch worth taking a punt on. Shame the seller doesn’t look interested in sending it to the UK else I’d consider it.

@pIoNeErOfThEnILe, that Mondia has a couple of issues.
Check the 1 & 7 markers, also not working as it should.

Is this worth $300 in its present state ? how much more to put it right ?

I ask purely for education as i am still learning & still need a little guidance.

70’s is gonna pop- it’s the next phase for the market- but unlike the 60’s stuff where even boring cheap watches fetch a little more than they should, only the best will rise to the top- there was a lot of absolute shit in the 70’s.

Not bad for a 2-year old Sinn 104 with full kit (strap is in the box). $300 off watchbuys price- not a steal but a fair price for a nice watch. If you get it for starting bid- then you got a good deal.

Hi everyone...

I have a liking for vintage Certina DS ... models and here is an early example inside caseback marked " SWISS PATENT PENDING" from first year or so production... condition is worn but cool in any case... and worth a look at ... and who knows make an offer..

That is a true beauty.
I've gone over budget already or I'd bid on it.
I put it on my watch list just to see what the final winning bid will be.
