i've wanted this watch for over 20 years. almost had one at one time, but for one reason or another it never happened. i think it was becuse i didn;t want to pay 1k to 1500 for it. perfect for every raider fan or reading dostoevsky in a black turtleneck.

always loved the embossed case back..

here's a non chrono.

looks like scuffs to crystal between 9/10.

listed at 36mm but 100% wears smaller than that because of the case

this watch is crying for a oyster bracelet

$550..nope...$300...u have to really want it....the pio buy price lower than that because it wears small and it's just not interesting enough

I've come to a place that if it's something that has been on my list for a while and I haven't been able to either find one in the condition I find acceptable, or a price I find acceptable- I need to re-evaluate- and it's not my condition standards that need adjustment.
To use the Fbl chrono as an example- you sometimes need to add a premium for quality and scarcity- if $1.5k was you threshold before, and you still didn't find one at that price that was to your lilking- and this one checks all the boxes, why not bite the bullet and pay a 30% premium for the condition and rarity? One shot and it's done- it's yours, you won't even remember the $500 next week.

Get ready for @Norfolk to have another buying splurge 😗
You refer to the Antonio goal?! Another peach.

I’m all done for now. Funds depleted. I’ll leave the field open for others....

condition is huge for me now. i can appreciate patina and even wear, but i'm x'ing out many watches that have things i know will bother me, but to some won't.

i'm pretty much over this watch. you can even go downstream and find a zodiac in an almost same case and design, for less.

Thread members....I offer you....

THE LANZINI!!!!

Yup. I was the one who bought the Wakmann. And boy is it a beauty. Almost NOS. Wonderful size. Fully working. Stunning dial. Just sublime.

Very much like the goal itself.

And this won't be leaving my collection....ever.

That's a great way to remember such a cracking goal. It even has his nickname on the dial (the Jewel). You received it very quickly or are you now living in the US?

American made Elgin. Maybe too good to be true. https://www.ebay.com/itm/284056314878
These are truly horological rarities- the 760 & 761 were the only truly American made self-winding movments. Parts are long NLA- hope would be a cleaning and mainspring could bring it back to daily service. For $50, may be worth the gamble.

And it's gone. Not me. I always enjoy seeing these American made Elgins. One day I'll take the plunge. A real piece of American ingenuity.

I've owned two of these (gave one to a friend)- this is a sensational watch. Reissue from 1994 of their Vietnam war watch- I've posted about the PR disaster this watch was, but as a watch itself it is awesome. Seller doesn't say if it running, but it's an eta so easy service if needed. This won't last long as they have caught fire in the last few years.

Lol!! I saw that thing was gone by the time I got back to the listing- so glad someone here got it.
I think these are outstanding watches on their own merits (Mil heritage aide)- SS case, ETA movement, tritium lume- and one of the most readable designs ever made.

Here is mine:
