Recommendations regarding leather strap

I really like the look of leather strap on dress watches and some sports watches, but never had great luck with OEM or aftermarket straps.
They tend to literally break down or become so discoloured that they are just about unusable after about a year. I am certainly open to spending a good chunk of change on a strap that can last with good care.

Any recommendations regarding:
Type of leather?
Brand?
Leather care products?

You might try the Omega black alligator over rubber with deployment buckle. Worked great on my PO.

I do know about the hybrid strap and rubber strap options.

But alas, I was cursed with pediatric wrists. The rubber and hybrid straps tend to be bulky and add to the lug to lug.

I would prefer pure leather straps that fare better than the Amazon straps.

I like shell cordovan. It’s soft and formable from the beginning. Also ages nicely. Have ordered made to measure from watchstrapheaven. He makes them by hand.
Few pics for inspiration.

Should add that I like un-padded straps. They give a more classy look imo.

I get your struggle with leather straps! It can be frustrating when they don't hold up well over time.

I've owned a number of OEM and other straps. The most comfortable is Omega Rally strap.

In my experience, shell cordovan, teju lizard and crocodile hold up the best.

There are many independent strap makers nowadays which produce high quality straps and can be found in social media (Instagram etc).
