Hi all,

I bought an 80’s Omega ladies watch for my wife, upon arrive it’s not running and with a fresh battery it’s the same case. It doesn’t owe me a great deal and was a bit of a gamble in the first place. But I wondered if there is anyone on here that’s could recommend someone/ or somewhere that could have a look at it for me?

I suspect it might be cheaper to replace the movement as nos and used working movements don’t cost the world. But it would be nice to leave the original in there if that’s possible.

Thanks Andy

You’re going to need to specify your country at the very least.

That might help! I’m in the UK, based in Cheshire.

I’m sure there are some independents who specialise in quartz but the watchmakers I generally use don’t service them.
The exception is Swiss time services who possibly do, but they will be multiples of the value of the watch.

Yeah I know Sts will do it and do it well! But I don’t see the watch being worth the price of the service.

I can buy a used working ETA 256.111 movement for £35 or a NOS movement for £50… so I might do that for now to get it running and then figure out where I can get the original movement repaired.

Croydon Service Centre [email protected] have sorted out a couple of issues with my Cal 1250 watches. That said, they always seem to quote me £300 plus postage but they certainly dealt with a problem I had.

Thanks for the heads up, I’ll give them a call and see what they say.

On a side note, if you ever need a cal 1250 servicing again, I can recommend Paul at electric watches, I have all my tuning forks done through Paul and I’m alway happy with the service and pricing point… I have a feeling he won’t be interested in servicing the 1426 tho.

Cheers Andy
