Reasons not to buy from Jomashop?

Do JS and other grey market dealers like WatchMaxx include the METAS chronometer certificate that you can use to go online and check the numbers? That would be an important consideration for me as well.

I have ordered quite a few watches from JS before (up to $1200) and always had a good experience. Instead of opening a new thread, hearing experiences or recommendations using WatchMaxx vs Joma would be very helpful as well.

JS also lists their watches on eBay so perhaps that may provide some extra safety and easier returns for a slightly higher price?

In my experience, they sure do. The only thing they remove is the warranty card.

My Omega from Jomashop has no problems and would deal with them again. You could also look into Chitownwatch.com. They also sell through eBay if you want PayPal protection. I believe he gets his watches internationally, but comes with valid Omega warranty card.
I second Chitown. Purchased my last 5 from Segei and the watches are prefect. Plus the factory warranty and huge discount are biggest pluses

Jomashop warranty sucks but if you're the 1st buyer I say the savings are worth it, $1500 off retail is nothing to sneeze at.

I bought 2 off Jomashop. Happy with both experiences.

I am thankful that there are good online sellers like these since I live 6 hours from the nearest physical authorized dealers.

Honestly I think gray market dealers are nothing to worry about for the modest part I haven’t heard of any bad experienced from people I know

I bought two, both between $500-$1000. One I was very happy with and is now one of my favorite watches even though I have watches 10x or more expensive (more a watch review than JS review - but Certina DS Action Diver Automatic https://www.jomashop.com/certina-watch-c032-407-11-051-02.html).

The other was a discontinued model but still advertised as new. However, the box was really beat up, no manual, no stickers (thought honestly I am not sure this brand comes with a manual or stickers - more of a fashion watch <gasp>). I kept it anyway just because it wasn't important and I wasn't going to ever sell it.

I would definitely think hard about ordering a high tier item but there are plenty of protection mechanisms in place. Their supposed 30 day return policy, credit card or paypal dispute, etc. That said, I ordered a high value watch from another well known grey market vendor and was very disappointed in my experience.

These true greys that don’t offer a warranty are ok, but trusted sellers with full warranty’s from omega are usually the same price.

What is the benefit to go with them vs an established trusted seller?

Pretty sure they have buyer protection like chrono24, amazon, ebay and many others. They are one of the more well known online watch dealers out there so I would imagine it's safe. Never used them personally though. Im a big fan of chrono24.

I think the only way to really get ripped off on these things with something that isnt authentic and maybe not be able to get your money back is if you did something p2p, like craigslist.

Chitownwatch is better for a new Speedy than Joma because of the warranty and pricing.

My experience is that they aren't the same price, greys are cheaper by about 10% (of course various by watch and brand). Otherwise, correct, never a good reason to not go with trusted seller.

I purchased a brand new Seamaster 300 via Chrono24 to great success. I saved >$1000 off MSRP and had a full 5 year warrantee signed by an AD.

Birthday present to myself, from Jomashop. Hard to find this watch locally. Seems perfect at the moment, of course no warranty card, so I am educating myself by reading this forum.

If I ask, will they send me a card, or by registering with them, I get the 4 year warranty?

They usually won’t send a card. And you probably have to deal with the Jomashop warranty

I wouldn't feel good about Joma doing warranty work, however under no condition would I allow someone to work on a Co-Axial who hasn't been trained.

You have to look at it like this. If you are going to buy several watches over the year(s), the discounts add up. Sure, one might have a problem, but the money you saved in total will more than cover any warranty costs if you don't want to use their aftermarket warranty.

Take the money you save by buying grey and earmark it or put it into a savings account of some kind. If you wind up needing to get it serviced/repaired, you've got the money. If you never use it, you've still got the money.
