Oh yea, I remember Mr. O now. He pulled this same shit in his very first post being all condescending and passive aggressive. Cause he, “tells it like it is” and is “authentic”. AKA, how dare you question his opinions. 👍

You're just jealous as you don't have a rich nephew.

$8k is way too high. Most 3572.50’s I’ve seen sell on the watch forums (fora for the snobs out there), Reddit, and Facebook groups during the last year go for around $4k - even the full set, tritium dialed ones.

Maybe. I am using chrono and their asked prices as a baseline.

Is that how you would determine a valuation if you were planning to buy a watch?

Can we get Mr. O back, please? I was really enjoying this thread. I’d bet real money that he is either 12 years old or a young professional living in his parents’ basement. 😁

I would price it at $5,000 and take it from there. Here is why. It's a very good looking Speedy and it aged well. However, it does not have a limited edition dial and so it's hard to justify paying that much of a premium for it. Over $5k, you enter pre-moon territory. I think you'll probably end up finding a buyer somewhere between $4K and $5k.

Maybe if you gift him an upgrade to Tier 1 membership, he will feel more welcome. ::stirthepot::

to the OP:

I think around 5000 is the median price these days (EU or $) for a 3572.50. Maybe slightly higher with full kit/papers/bracelet.

I have one, probably a year earlier than yours with s/n about 1400 lower than yours. Mine is one of the last with 863 gilt movement. It's my favorite watch!

If you really want to know how the market values it : take good pics, put on eBay as an open auction starting at $1. If its an 8k watch, someone will bid up to 8k. But I am thinking that is wishful thinking ... for another 2k one can still pick up 321 Speedies these days...

Selling a watch is not as easy as people think, especially when the seller has no reputation or credibility. The biggest mistake is to compare yourself with dealers or high volume Chrono24 sellers. New sellers are often tempted to put a high-end price on a watch, thinking that people will make lower offers, or that they will reduce the price if nobody buys it after some time. Sure, that's what retail dealer websites do with large inventories, but I don't think it's a great model for the hobbyist trying to sell a watch or two. What happens is that buyers just ignore the listing because they figure if they want to pay a high price, they will buy it from an established dealer with a warranty instead of sending thousands of dollars to a nameless private party with no internet presence or reputation. After a while, the listing gets stale, buyers assume there must be something wrong with the watch (or seller), and after that it won't sell unless you make a big price drop to encourage someone to take a risk on it. Ultimately, you often do better if you price it attractively from the start.

that's completely different issue.

I wanted to understand price of a watch when there is only one another specimen in open market for twice the price of regular speedmaster.

Actually no, it’s not. These are not exactly rare … going as far as to say they are ‘rare as Rolex’ in the sense that there are very many of them made. There will be evidence of market value (aka what the market is prepared to pay for such a piece) quite recently by searching for recent sold listings (on eBay, here etc).

Here, let me do your research for you ...

Yes, I know yours has a tritium dial ... thats not going to get you 3k extra ... so searching for 3592.50 will yield results...

I think Dan S was just reacting to my comment and what he said makes a lot of sense. It's actually excellent advice and coming from a long time member who knows what he is talking about. I understand that in your case, OP, you want to know the high-end price of what your watch can sell for. What people here are saying and all agree on is that it's going to be much less than $8k.

And then they return ... but give off the same vibes ... right now, I'm getting Nov 2022 vibes ...

Is it fair to lump them together in one boat?
