Real or fake speedmaster

I’m looking for a bit of advice on a Omega Speedmaster Date (ref. 3211.30.00, cal. 1164) that I’m considering buying privately.

I’ve been sent a few videos and photos from the seller and just wanted a second opinion before going ahead.

Details:

  • Full set (box + cards)
  • Serial on case matches the cards
  • General condition looks good with some normal wear
  • Price agreed: £1,400

My main concern:
The seller has sent videos of the date being changed manually, but across a few different videos on different days the date appears to stay the same. I’m unsure if:

  • The watch hasn’t been running, or
  • The date isn’t advancing automatically overnight

I’ll be checking this in person by rolling the time past midnight, but wanted to get opinions from anyone experienced with this model.

Questions:
  1. Does everything look genuine from the photos/videos?
  2. Is the date behaviour something to worry about on this movement?
  3. At £1,400, does this seem like a fair deal given no service history?

Any help would be massively appreciated 👍

Looks ok at a glance. China does have a Valjoux 7750 clone so it might be safe to have a watchmaker open it and have a quick check.

Regarding your date function, this is a common problem with this movement. Google: valjoux 7750 date wheel problem
