Can someone please help me identify if I have bought a real or a fake watch? Thanks in advance. It’s for my boyfriend and I want to be sure.

Thanks a lot for taking the time to reply. I don’t understand why chat gpt keeps telling me it looks like a fake…

chatgpt is just a human too. 😉
Well yes. But I personally don’t have any expertise in watches, so it really made me second guess

Chatgpt sucks information from the internet and then regugitates it without having the ability to filter incorrect information from valid data.

I only look at AI reponses for amusement, not for an educated response.

Your watch is fine, your boyfriend is lucky.

As it was purchased in Tokyo in 2019 and tested for water tightness last year by Chronoworx it may be due for a service (if not noted as serviced).

Let him enjoy it for a while before sending off for service though.

Not fake in any way but the bezel insert has been perhaps removed and replaced at some point. Normally the pip is inline with a peak on the scalloped bezel shell, yours is not. This is enough to have perhaps made an AI cry foul. Often this would indicate replacement with an aftermarket part but I don’t see that here, it looks genuine, so it’s easily fixable in the unlikely event he spots it.

Can I ask you if you by service mean full service or do you refer to the pressure test?

Yes, I mean a full service where the watch is disassembled, all parts cleaned, inspected replaced (if required), assembled, lubricated and tested. The pressure test simply confirms that the seals/gaskets are performing as specified.

As the watch is at least 7 years old or more, and if there is no evidence of a previous service then it should be considered due for one.

Jim note it’s a quartz. If it’s running and confirmed watertight it can probably be left alone until the second hand starts the big jumps indicating it needs a battery. Then a full service would be a good idea.

Those Bond Seamasters all look the same to me, I didn't check the ref.

The "Swiss Made" seems badly printed. But others who have commented have more knowledge about these new refs than me, so I trust their verdict of authenticity.

(That lower quality print is so small font that it doesn't reduce the real life using experience. Just something I noticed from the close up photo.)

There maybe some slight distortion viewing through the crystal, but in the photo the printing looks fine.

The printing on SMP dials follows the waves which have depth and can look odd at times. I see nothing to worry about here.

I mostly meant the section where the "S" on the "Swiss Made" seem to have inc bleeding making the "S" have its upper arc connected to mid section. But like said I'm not that familiar how crisp these prints are usually.

Here is another photo of the print. I guess Maybe the picture quality or the glass makes it appear like its bleeding in certain angles?
