Rattling bezel on my Seiko Turtle 6309-7040

Hi all,

I have this birthyear Seiko Turtle 6309-7040 from 1981 and the bezel is rattling.
It seems to be loose and I am wondering if something is missing or worn out.
Is this a know issue with these watches, and what can I do?

Best regards,
Marius

Could be the spring, or something. (Not sure how this bezel works)

Easy fix if you contact Seiko service centre in your country. Seiko is the one company that will fix something like this without requiring a full service 😉

Bezel probably just needs an O-ring/gasket.
Is the click ball still in place?

Wasn’t sure if these had the ball or not… 😉 Good to know they do. Thanks Jim

I don't understand what you mean by 'rattling' - can you clarify? The case, however, should have a click ball with a spring (under it) on the top right of the case. Sometimes the ball is gone, or the spring is shot or gone too... You'll need to remove the bezel and inspect.

The watchmaker has tried, but they cannot help 😕

Might be that it is just a gasket that is missing, but if the click ball or spring is gone - where can I source it?

Well rattling is probably not the right word, but the bezel seems loose. You can hear the aluminum bezel click/rattle whenever the arm is moving. The whole bezel seems loose, but at the same time it is in place and it clicks when it is turned around.

Try a Seiko watch mod guy. Just googled and a few in Norway on instagram.

These guys usually can get parts as plenty of places make them. A bezel kit shouldn’t be that hard for this model.

I have a guy in Australia if you can’t find anything local.

Have you checked that the bezel gasket is in place or not?

It's just an O-ring and readily available on eBay.
