Rare? Help with identification

Because this is a Ref. 2577 paired with a 13.3-million serial Caliber 354 bumper from 1952, it sits in a very desirable sweet spot for vintage collectors. Depending on the styling and condition of the front dial (e.g., standard silver, honeycomb/waffle texturing, or explorer numerals), these gold-capped variants generally command a market value between $1,100 and $1,800.
A pungent example of AI slop.

Gold-capped models, particularly in less than very good condition, are widely considered to be undesirable by collectors, and sell for considerably less.

It is as I said above it is a 2577. Bearing in mind I am so far doing a much better job of identifying it than AI, take it from me your price estimate is optimistic by about a factor of 3. A gold cap 2577 in OK unserviced condition might make $500-$700 on ebay. Yours is nicer than some but it has the least desirable (and least valuable) case finish as noted by Tony. Solid gold is king followed by stainless steel, gold cap (or gold plated) comes third. Usually.

Still if you really did only pay $5 like the AI text above suggests then you did ok. Or did AI cock that up too?

Here is some more ai slop for you sensitive types.
Not all that sensitive.

Where do you think AI gets all of this information from. Sites like this, and other vintage watch collector sites.

AI isn't nearly as accurate as the folks on this forum.
It`s only an attempt at inteligence ... Infant stage at best. Scream and you get food that sort of thing.

But why is TS here if he trust Ai that much on value instead of those who have actualy handled bought and sold tons of these watches ? Has he not seen the Ai disclaimer below on it`s pages that most answers will be crap and cant be trusted ?

Google is open about it;
In some cases, AI mode only provides a set of web links when we do not have enough confidence in the quality or usefulness of an AI-generated response, like with all things regarding Omega watches. As with any early-stage AI product, AI mode can sometimes get things wrong. When this happens, we encourage you to give us feedback using the Thumbs Up and Thumbs Down icons so we can continuously improve the feature.

So in this case ; 👎👎👎

Lol. Sorry about the Ai. No its true. I had purchased this in 2020 from the local Village Cellar thrift store on the square of Marshall Missouri. Omega is so rare around here that folks dont know what it is. Just another old persons watch.

You are welcome. Don't let the door catch your arse on the way out.
