Thinking about getting a 5513 and wanted to get everyone's opinion on which version 5513 to get. In terms of value which dial ranks first to last? Does it fall under this sequence?

Rank in terms of value?
1- Meters first
2 - Nonserif/serif
3 - Precomex
4 - Maxi Dials
5 - ?? Different version of maxi dials?

Feel free to rank the dials based on what you think is most valuable or just personal preference.

Gilt and condition will trump those categories. And the pre-Comex claim has always seemed pure hype.

If you can get a first generation with the 1530 movement (same as the 5512) before they went into the 1520 That would be an interesting one...but as said, the value will be more dependent on original parts and condition.

The pre-1967 5513s are going to be the most valuable, before the glossy dial gave way to the matte version. Within that period collectors go bonkers over Chapter Rings, the upper underline from 1963, the Bart Simpson coronet, gilt writing, etc.
Get ready to fork over some serious $$$ if that's what you're looking for...and show us pics when you land one! 😀

Gilt is definitely above my budget so trying to just stick with meters first, non/serif, and maxi dials. Looking for something with a nice faded bezel. Is there much of a difference in terms of appreciation for meters first or feet first?

Yes, all things being equal, the "meters first" dials will always bring a premium; they're a bit older, a tad more rare.

Totally agree.

Another point is asuming all of them with dial in equal condition. Dials with patina, aging in tritium and this kind of things always count.

Just take a look on VRM to have an idea.
It looks like early mAxi dial (MKI especially but Also MKII and MKII) took the lead with asked price close to 10k dollars since several month. Of course you have to take into account the overall conditon and especially the case which is a Market driver for Rolex collector.

This may help as requested , upper is 69 serif dial 5513 .
Maxi dial tend to have a bit higher price as other condition are the same .
Meter first with fair overall condition and resonable price that should be focused on.😉 😉

I turn my nose up at any watch with a crown guard.

Admittedly, though, it does become a bit awkward when I reject them in gift form. 🙄

Good call--that's an excellent resource. Also, the links (blogs) posted on his website are equally informative.

Personally I would go with meter first as I own one. [emoji12]

Decided to go with this lovely Non Serif with beautifully faded grey bezel! Thinking about getting a twin brother ideally meters first with a blue faded bezel.
