i don’t know how to post a video here but the ones I’ve seen are pretty consistent with radium. Seems to react as my 2914 whose lume is undoubtedly original (and very close in colour) 😀
Certainly could be. It's not always easy to tell from photos. Geiger counter is the best way. My Ranchero lights up a geiger counter like a Christmas tree. 😀

The 3 are great but the true grail among them is the railmaster 😀

the 2996 is a Pakistan Air Force seamaster

The middle one is a white ranchero I got recently but it seems like I don’t have any pictures of it with me for now, I’ll post some as soon as I have it in hand again 🙁
thank you for sharing the photos. absolutely fantastic.

Two 1958 2990 models. Black dial Ranchero with broad arrow handset and white dial Seachero with Dauphine handset.

Hi, I came across this thread and reading through it, there seems to be the belief that the 2990 Seamasters were somehow re-cased Ranchero models as a reaction to a certain market not appreciating the naming. Leading to the Seachero term coined in recent years.

I have not come across conclusive evidence to support the above, though I wouldn't claim to be a thorough researcher on this. However, I do want to share a scan of a Swiss Omega Catalogue from 1959 showing both the Seamaster and Ranchero model with the same case available for sale at the same time. It seems these were just targeted to different aesthetic tastes (gold plated vs SS case or white dial vs black dial, etc). Notice the Seamaster is priced higher. Just thought it would be interesting for those interested in these models to know.

I also include a shot of my Seamaster (not Seachero) 😀

Great addition to the Topic. Better than Hearsay.

I’ve heard this rumor also. Probably made up by a dealer trying to squeeze a few more dollars out of a non-Ranchero Ref. 2990.

However, it is true that the name “Ranchero” doesn’t have the greatest connotation in some dialects of Spanish. So it makes sense to me that the model wasn’t offered everywhere.

Regarding the higher price for a similar Seamaster, I believe the Ranchero was intended to be the lowest cost Omega watch in the places it was sold. Watch companies usually charged extra for gold-plating and gold figures on the dial.

Center Seconds 2996 BA Ranchero.
Harder to source than any 2914 Railmaster.

Definitely agree with this. I would say for every 10 nice black dial subseconds Rancheros you find you might find 1 nice center seconds version.

There was a very nice white dialed Ranchero for sale on C24 a few days ago from a seller in Finland. He was asking $4,820 USD for it and I, like an idiot, offered less figuring that I would have to pay customs fees, shippiing, use tax, etc. Someone else offered more and bought it. Stupid . . . .
