This type of box is made of faux leather and will look like this over time
Due to the nature of the main material, polyurethane, it is unavoidable
It's the same thing that happens when the soles of old sneakers peel off.

I use a translation service.Sorry for the weird English.

    So your post is to:

Warn people not to buy these because they’re cheap and won’t last

    or

Just unhappy and need to vent about it?

This is a genuine Omega box.It is an accessory to the watch.
We have to accept our fate.

I'm using a translation service, so I'm not sure we're communicating...

I think I get what you’re saying: the box is cheaply made, and does not wear well. I agree - I have the same box and it looks equally bad.

Basically these boxes weren't made to last which means if you find one in very good or excellent condition it has some extra value.
If you don't use the box, just put it up in a friendly environment to preserve it, maybe decades later you'd have something to show off and brag about.

    PS
The box my Dad's Deville came in still looks pretty good for a fifty year old plastic box more suited to a watch of one tenth the value when new. Its been kept out of sight in a drawer still in its outer card board box which has also held up very well. Had it seen daily use it would have ended up in the trash bin thirty years ago.
Mom's old Bulova came in a stylishly Art Deco, possibly bakelite, box that still looks very nice after seventy years or so, though it saw much use with no attempt to preserve it.
Some boxes from that era are true works of art.

I was concerned that I understood the meaning of your reply.

A place free of UV rays and moisture. A desiccant would be even better.
If it gets wet, wipe it up immediately.
