Questions about my new Longines Czech Pilot..

Some more information obtained from a French collector on a different site:

" As to the Czech pilot the number matching with the lug number is always on the inside of the caseback. Other matching numbers on Czech Pilot watches are a bit tricky because the matching is different according to the period at which the watch was made. Basically there are more matching numbers of the watches fitted with the porcelain dial than with the later metallic dial as this one. To the best of my knowlege on the later model fitted with the metallic dial and the 15. 68Z movement, the only matching you can find is between the lug number and one of the two numbers stamped on the inside caseback. I hope this helps."

This (if correct) implies that the lack of matching between movement serial number and case back are not an issue with my (later model) watch, and that the only replacement may have been the case back. I'll ask about this when I write Longines.

cheers,
Todd

Good news! And useful info, as well.
