Question on how to properly address my Seamaster Diver watch please

Hi there guys,

I now own an Omega Seamaster 300M Divers watch, I was given the watch as payment for a debt owed to me.
I have thoroughly researched the watch, and have contacted OMEGA, etc.

Here is the issue, according to OMEGA directly, the watch is a reference number 2920.80.91 (Omega says model began in April 2006) , by virtue of it's serial number engraved on the lug of the watch. The original owner apparently changed out the watch blue band, and installed a watch bracelet on it, the same one as on the Ref number 2220.80.00 watch, which is the Casino Royale Seamaster 300M Diver Watch series.

Omega tells me, in writing, that my watch (2920.80.91) and the 2220.80.00 watch are identical in every way, except for the different watch band/bracelet, was purchased overseas (Not in the USA) , and was manufactured in 2007 by OMEGA in Switzerland.

If I were to try and sell this watch, what the heck do I use for reference number, since the adding of the 825/1503 bracelet actually makes it appear as if the watch is the 2220.80.00, but it is really the 2920.80.91,with an upgraded bracelet? The original blue band is not present.

I have attached the info that Omega sent me directly to this post.

I may take it to the Omega Boutique and have it fully serviced soon.

Doesn’t matter as they are the same. But I’d lean to the reference that is on the cards.

I understand that, if I had the full set of red cards, but I have only the original box, red manual, and white leather card holder, without the actual original cards. Omega has told me they may be able to supply me with at least one universal red card from their service center, and would send to me in the mail when it came in for me.

If I turn the watch into the OB dealer, I was told that when it returns, I would get some cards back from that service that would also show all of the pertinent information, but do not think they will be the "original" red cards as when purchased.

If you are selling then don't service it, you will not get that money back. Also the cards aren't going to add much.

The watch left the factory with a specific reference number and that can't be changed by virtue of a new bracelet, so just use the original reference number if you are selling it but note that a different bracelet is now on the watch. Omega won't issue a new 'International Warranty' or 'Pictogram' red card which contains the reference number and serial number of the watch. You'll get a guarantee card back from Omega Service if they do an overhaul for you, but it isn't as compelling as the original red cards. But those cards won't add much value at this point, they are a 'nice to have' for a collector, but for the average secondary market sale they aren't that important.

IMHO, I think that Omega should have imortalized the red cards in an archive, just as they did apparently by taking a picture of the exact watch and model and serial number, which they sent directly to me in an email. But yes, after 16 years since it was manufactured, everyone understands it is no longer under warranty anyways, but they are just a nice thing to have to "complete" the package, but not necessary I guess.

Just buy some fake cards off eBay, only we will know.

Ultimately, it really won’t matter except for an incredibly small number of collectors who want the specific reference in the strap AND all paperwork and box. Most buyers will like pay more for the watch in the bracelet.

Just label it as a Seamaster Professional 300m “Bond” and list it without the reference number. Many buyers don’t care about the specific reference number anyway, they just want the watch and can tell what it is from the pictures.

Perhaps the watch may have a preference as to how they are addressed.
