·Hello All!
I am new to the forum, as I have just recently had the means to begin collecting some more serious watches. Until recently, I have only purchased newer watches from the manufacturer or slightly used watches off ebay and Reddit. I have always loved the simple elegance of classic watches, and I have loved Omegas for years. I was excited to find a good deal on a vintage Omega from a reliable seller the other day, and was hoping I could perhaps get some more information from the knowledgeable folks over here.
The seller described the watch as a "simple gp date, white sunburst 1964" The ref. is 132.019, with a manual wind cal 611 movement. The seller said that the crown was a replacement from some point, which I was not bothered by at this price point, but the watch is missing its sweeping seconds hand. The watch is running and keeping decent time over a 24 hour period from what I can tell, but I plan to take it to be serviced and I hope to maybe be able to find a sweeping seconds hand for the watchmaker to replace. I am wondering if you folks have any additional information about the watch, as it does not seem to belong to the traditional lines of omegas from this period (i.e. seamaster, geneve etc..) as well as some servicing and restoration advice for a newbie. I want to keep the original patina and such, and I wouldn't mind sourcing the original crown at some point as well.
I am attaching pictures in the hopes that they will be helpful for everyone, and I appreciate the wealth of information on the forum.
