·I've owned several 1861 over the years and always loved the sober design of the dial... austere and very technical like the precision instrument that it is.
I've not seen a 3861 'in the flesh' yet, so my question prior to purchasing one regards the texture of the dial. I understand that the tone/color on the new 3861 is more 'black' and less 'grey' than the outgoing 1861, but what about the texture? Is the texture more pronounced (ie 'grainier') on the newer Speedy's? It sort of appears that way from the images I've seen on the web, but I can't really tell for sure even in side by side comparisons because of the different lighting people use for photography.
Any input would be greatly appreciated... thanks!
