Question about PO 42mm

Hi friends

this one is offered locally, Omega PO 42mm
232.30.42.21.01.003

Seller claims he bought it last year but box watch and condition seem to look much older.

I also believe that the 42mm model discontinued few years ago. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Does the whole thing look legit to you?

The model is discontinued. I thought that he bought from the first owner but the warranty states 202.. maybe an old stock from a recent sale?

Yes, seller claims he bought it in December 2020... The watch and box condition doesn't support that claim IMO... The most important part, is there a doubt it is a fake ?

They did come in that box a long time ago, but from at least 2017 at least, they came in the new boxes, so question the year of the watch, not when he bought it, That's pretty old stock if that's the original box.

A new piece of info after a phone call with seller.. He is not the first owner. However, it is still an old stock that purchased in 2020 as per the warranty card… I am going to check the watch in person tomorrow and see

I have an old box like that for my 2220.80 Seamaster 300M Pro and it looks nothing like that. Mine is still in good condition.

No help I know but I have one of those boxes (no watch though) and the finish is disintegrating on the outside. I tried to leather polish it and made it worse with all off the red crumbling off. I might try and spray paint it with red Vynalcote, nothing to loose.

I’ve heard the boxes disintegrate like that after long exposure with the foam in the outer box. Causes some sort of reaction. I keep my red boxes separate from the white boxes now and haven’t had any issues, but still a weird thing for omega to let slip through….

The warranty card itself doesn’t bother me if the serial numbers match as I know there is old stock around. My local ad had one of these brand new a few months ago. I think what probably happened is that a dealer was just getting rid of old stock and just put it with and old box lying around since this box is technically the correct box as shown on the pictogram card. The watches themselves ship separate from the boxes so it’s up to the AD to pair them properly

I bought my 2nd gen PO 8500 as new old stock in 2018 and it came in the newer wooden box.

Hahah. Watch looks real but couldn't really tell you if it was really NOS.

Nobody would sell a NOS on that case. And that case has not deteriorated that way in a year.

I do have several of those boxes and none of them is like that. I guess you live in a very humid place.

elther way. I do not believe that is NOS. New old stock is NEW old Stock

Sorry, I mean the original buyer was NOS in 2020. Not that it's currently NOS. At this point the watch is used.

Since you are going in person, there are two main things I would check.
1. Make sure that the hour hand rotates independently in the first crown position (pull the crown out one click then rotate)
2. Take your phone camera out and switch to slow-mo. Record the second hand for a few secs and count the amount of ticks between each second. On this watch, it should be 7. On most other modern watches (And many fakes), it’s 8.

Watch looks fine to me and personally the box wouldn’t stop me. I coincidentally am also on the hunt for one of these again after I sold my 45.5 a few years ago since it was a tad big. Good luck

The fakes have both a regulator arm and a stud holder. I'm only seeing a stud holder. It's real.

I got that. But I still don’t believe it based on the state of that box.

cab a box deteriórate? Of course. Would a store sell you a NEW watch last year with a box in that state? I doubt it. Would a box deteriorate like that on a year or less? Not in my experience, and I have a trunk full of these boxes.
