Hello,

This watch was passed on to my mother when my grandfather died. Now she would like to give it to me (oldest Son) but would like to know its approximate value so that she can pass on something equivalent to my sisters. Does anyone know the approximate value? Thank you very much in advance for your support.
Best Regards.

Your grandfather worked for Omega?

Is the case marked as gold?

It is a beautiful piece.

On eBay, I see similar steel or gold plated models without box and papers and personalized engraving being offered for around $400-600. Those pieces have not been sold. I would argue your piece is around the same or slightly higher, with the personalized engraving slightly negating out the great condition, original bracelet and box and papers. Solid gold models would be different, as per above post.

To be honest, for your situation it’s a little hard to say your grandfather’s watch is worth this much dollar value so your sisters should get something of same dollar value, as there is also sentimental value which is not possible to price.

Yes my grandfather worked 35 years for Omega (Biel-Switzerland).
And yes it's a 24kt gold.

Best Regards.

That’s amazing.

The value of the watch on the market would largely be its gold weight as that model is not highly collected. I love them though and I’m sure some Omega collectors would feel the same.

the value to you and your family of course would be much higher though. Congratulations on becoming the next caretaker of it.

For probate, i would go for weight of gold plus 10-20%

More likely 18-karat? There should be stampings inside the case back, or on the buckle, somewhere. By the way, the back was put on 180° turned in the wrong orientation, the last time the cell was changed. Indeed a significant watch!

It certainly won't be 24kt gold, possibly 14 or 18kt. Can you show the bracelet or watch head hallmarks to ascertain?

It's hard to spot, but doesnt it also say "OM" next to "Swiss Made" on the dial? (meaning "or massif", solid gold)

What confused me initially were the steel connectors between the case and the bracelet, that made me slightly sceptical at first. But I'm admittedly out of my depth with these.
