Question about mounting a vintage Navitimer bezel

Hi folks! I recently received my Ollech & Wajs Aviation (basically a rebranded Navitimer from the 60s), but unfortunately the bezel-glass combination is loose from the case. These a copper washer that should hold it in place and fix it to the case, but I just don’t get it on there properly. Maybe there’s a technique for it which I don’t get… Hopefully someone can help me out here (I really don’t want to glue it on…)

Here you see the copper washer, the back of the bezel-glass combination and the case.

From what I think the washer should be placed in here and the overlap will fix the bezel to the case. However pressing it on after mounting the washer doesn’t fix it.

Here it is in the notch of the case.

Am I missing something? Any ideas how to mount it properly?

Nice watch !
From spring loaded bezels i handled i remember that i had to push the spring ( your washer ) inside the bezel first, than mount it on the watch by turning it while pressing. Maybe that will work for you ?

Yes I tried that as well, however it seems that the spring is not wide enough to hold it in place.
