·Hi OF. So I'm in the market for a vintage Breitling Navitimer Cosmonaute (ref. 809), and I've narrowed it down to 2 examples.
Example #1 is unpolished, but it has some sort of discoloration/corrosion/spotting on the midcase surrounding the crown/pushers, as well as a gouge on the back/side of one lug and heavy scratches on the back of another lug near the springbar. (First 4 photos).
Example #2 has none of these blemishes, but it has of course been polished. (Second 5 photos). So naturally, I wonder primarily what folks think about the severity of the blemishes vs. the severity of the polishing.
Regarding other factors, I think the dials are a tie (but let me know if you think differently), and example #2 was just serviced in 10/2023 (but is still running +19 sec/day) and has a new crystal/pushers/crown. Example #2 is ~$500 cheaper, but I think example #1 might need a movement service.
So, I think I know how most of you will answer, but which one would you choose? Thanks!
