Quality of Omega Seamaster watch

Recently bought seamaster blue. After sending to Omega boutique for bracelet resizing, I went home happily with the watch. Few days later, while admiring the sea master before I start officially wear it for work , I saw a slight issue. See the picture.

the corner circled red supposed to be brushed, instead it was shiny. I emailed to omega and they suggested me to bring it back for polishing the entire watch case.

wondering how did this happen? Was this the quality of the omega? Or did the omega technician accidentally scratch my watch case while adjusting the bracelet?

any thoughts?

More than likely, you knocked against something and scratched the brushing. Easy to do without even noticing you knocked it against a door jamb or your desk or your car door. That is more likely than it being a “defect” from Omega.

Better learn to live with such marks, or you won’t be able to live with what your clasp looks like in a few months! 😀

If you can’t live with it take Omega up on their offer to polish it for you. Everyone is different, that wouldn’t bother me at all. If I put my watches under a magnifying glass I’m sure I would be horrified at what my naked eye doesn’t notice day to day…but bumps and scratches are a part of ownership that just cannot be avoided!

We have socialized healthcare here in Canada. To keep the program’s cost down, watch owners are required to surrender all loupes and magnification equipment.

Pretty sure I did not knock on to anything because I haven’t worn it except bringing back to omega for bracelet resizing. Just thinking whether the omega technician accidentally knocked onto it while adjusting bracelet.

If you wear it for a week you will do worse.

This is wear and tear, not a quality issue.

Just wear it, not a big deal. Prayers to the sales staff on the other end.

Whoever caused the "damage" doesn't matter. It's simple to fix.

Typical QC issue for an entry-level watch. Don't look too closely at the dial or bezel. ::stirthepot::

Honestly, I don't think it's possible to wear a watch without getting any scratches.. like to me even the fact that it has a metal bracelet means it would scratch the caseback.

That's why I wouldn't put a metal bracelet on an unscratched vintage back.. but if it's a new watch or if already has scratches, honestly I don't care about tiny ones...

And also, when I look at my 131.019 with a light, I can see many imperfections which can't be seen in normal lighting.

But then again, I wouldn't look at such a small scratch anyway.

I was afraid it really was about Seamaster quality, but it was just another clumsy guy, like the rest of us. 😉 Welcome ti OF.

Dings add character and make a watch your own.

Imagine the stories you’ll have in a few years… “This is from that time I walked into a door…”

I might be overly cautious, but with my two new Omega's I place a polishing cloth over the casebacks when not worn so they don't get scratched. I alternate wearing them each day.

Do these watches scratch themselves when they’re alone? Not good!

I will not tolerate such immorality with my watches.
