Purchasing thoughts for a noob

Yes, I've worn the watch at a couple of ADs during travels. I'm glad they produced a watch with classic or vintage proportions. I can't pull off the bigger sizes, they just look out of proportion on me. As noted, there's no AD in Maine, but I do have a great local shop that I trust to maintain it. And regarding the warranty, maybe one of the dealers offered an extra year on top of the four-year warranty? That's probably how I came up with five years...

Omega warranties the coaxial movement watches four years, all others two years.

No, not exactly. The watches without co-axial are 2 years. Co-axial without silicon balance spring are 3 years (like padders example), and co-axial with silicon balance spring are 4 years.

Cheers, Al

Folks:

I'm ready to pull the trigger on an Omega PO 39.5. It'll be my first "really nice" watch.

I must admit I'm bewildered by the purchasing options. I live in a state where there's no Omega dealer, so the world is my oyster. That's both good and bad when it comes to purchasing options. Some authorized dealers are willing to offer significant discounts, then there are grey market dealers like Joma and Chrono24, and, finally, there are some that are in between (non-authorized dealers that somehow get AD watches with warranties). There's also used, but those prices aren't so far off from the other options.

I know this has been discussed ad nauseam but if you're feeling charitable, I could use some tips/thoughts.

Hi! I had the same problem and finally made the big decision and pulled the trigger on a 39.5 PO on Chrono24. I ordered it on Thursday and I had the watch delivered next Tuesday morning. All accessories, box, cards, everything included as expected... watch still covered in plastic stickies on bracelet and back. 28% discount compared to the OB price (shipping included). The only thing I needed to do is to have the bracelet adjusted. I took it to a certified service, where they did it for free (I did not want to scratch and mess up the screw heads.).
All I can recommend is to really check the dealer on Chrono, let’s check if that’s really a shop. Can you find it on Google maps streetview? What’s the trust advisor score of the exact same shop? What’s the score on Chrono? Is she/he responding to inquiries? Etc. use common sense. 😀 I hope I helped.

Below is the first picture after plastic removed.

That's the watch I want! There was an NYC seller with a great price at Chrono24, but never responded to any of my inquiries. So I was sort of soured by the experienced .Maybe I should give Chrono24 another looksee. Tnx for sharing your experience.

I talked to 5-6 sellers and checked them all on the mentioned way above. Some were fast to reply, some were slow. Anyway... Good hunting for you! I love the watch, just absolutely amazing for everyday use. When I look at it, it just makes me smile, no matter what the circumstances are.
Good luck!

OK, the deal is done. Decided to go with an AD, Topper. Very nice people and a competitive price. Obligatory wrist shot next week!
