I recently purchased a PO 8900 with no service history, and the manufacturer's warranty expired in 2022. The watch is in B+ condition with normal desk diving scratches throughout. The seller was not the previous owner and so he has no history on the watch.

Yes, it sounds absolutely bizarre for what I'm about to ask...especially with a PO, but I'm going on vacation next week and am expecting to recreational scuba at ~15m but also hanging at the hotel pool bar throughout the time I'm there.

I live by an OMEGA boutique that has an on-site watch service person, however, on the phone they don't think they can give me a same-day WR testing since they are very busy. I've considered going to a watchmaker, but most of them around me have subpar reviews.

I'll be a little disappointed if I can't scuba with it, but I'm having doubts if I should even swim with it if I know nothing about the watch's history with the previous owner. Should I just leave it at home altogether, or suck it up and find an independent watchmaker to get it done? How much should I be expected to pay?

Did the boutique give you any time frame in which they could get it done? Let us know your location and I’m sure someone here could recommend a place to go to that is near you. Enjoy your vacation!

A dry test takes about 5 minutes max. If the boutique has the equipment, they should be able to do it while you wait...

I think you’re being overly cautious. That watch will be fine for swimming and scuba diving.
