Omega SM1000m professional diving watch. These are very rare and are one of the scarcest models that Omega produced. This one is a prototype so the 1% of 1%! It’s a model that was used by Jaques Cousteau and his team, and is Omega's pinnacle of diving watch design. If Omega were to have an equivalent to the Comex Subs then this watch is it. Very under appreciated and only destined to gain attention.

    The Case
The case has a strong and correct factory finish, and is engraved with a 4 digit prototype number on the edge (photo retouched to obscure 1 digit for privacy).

    The Dial
The dial now looks fabulous, but was poorly relumed when I received it. James Hyman expertly relumed the dial to match the hands and bezel. The old lume was hard to remove from the dial and did cause some paint loss around some of the indices, most noticeable at 9 o'clock. On the wrist it is not really visible but can be seen under a loupe or macro pictures.

    The Movement
The movement has been fully serviced by Swiss Time Services and has about 18 months left on the warranty card.

    The Bracelet
The sharks mesh bracelet is is great condition and has a prototype code on the clasp only found on these prototype watches. Normally these are stamped 1247/237, this one is engraved 1247/224.

    The Paperwork
The Omega Extract of Archives confirms this watch as a Prototype, delivered to various Diving organisations for testing. It also has a service card from Swiss Time Services.

    Price
I am asking £18,500,£17,950,£16,950 £15,950 paid by bank transfer. Face to face welcome, I am in the UK. Dispatched by Fed Ex worldwide express fully insured with parcel pro.

Extract of the Archives stating the Model as a Prototype and remarks mentioning its use as 'Part of a batch delivered to diving organisations for testing'

It was a model used by Cousteau and his team of Aquanauts. Pictures of Cousteau, Patrick Delemotte and Raymond Coll all using the SM1000m(edit; not this one as far as I know!)

    Incredible piece.

BTW, love to see a new (to me) example of a crown-at-left dive watch

They get reversed in service more often than the SM600!

Then the date window would be off.

Like the SM 600 cal1002 this cal1012 has a unique date wheel that is often replaced in service with a standard date wheel and the dial is rotated 180’ making it crown at 3 o’clock in error.

I know that, I just didn’t think datewheels got replaced all that often.
