Project 105.012-65 Arrived...What to Do Next?

The 165.024 that I bought came with a NOS Omega bracelet (no expansion links) that only has "12" on the clasp and a date code of 8-71 along with a set of "47" end links. For kicks, I tried the bracelet on the 105.012, and damn if it doesn't seem to fit it pretty well!

Definitely dresses it up...still haven't dropped it off at the watchmaker, as I really like wearing it, warts and all!

Are the movement number and caseback correct?

Hey, the watch has a story and you can tell it. Nobody will argue.

It was one of the watches that one of the astronauts gave to the mexican housemaid and she gave it to her lovely husband. He hat to work hard, but was a good guy. After being treated so hard, the watch was repaired at a car mechanic in he gave his best...and the rest you can see today....

Leave it as it is. What a deal.

That is a great story, and is 100% plausible seeing the pushers!

In my opinion, though collectors probably wouldn't give it wrist-room, if you like it, feel happy wearing it, and don't regret the price paid, then that's what matters. And if you decide to alter it so you'll like it more, that's up to you as well.

Mid case and case back ready for some laser welding and reshaping, and with new pushers on order, hoping to have this POS back in a couple of months, in a somewhat wearable state.

😀

POS, Piece Of Shit? If so, is that you honest view on the watch today? When I described it in terms not that degrading, I was accused of having bad bed side manners 😁

I think that what you are doing now with the case is pretty clever, and I look forward to seeing the end result. Good luck! 👍

No, but I said it your benefit 😀 I was a bit of greenhorn on here when I posted this thread, and since that time my skin has thickened up a bit. Your words actually taught me to be much more of a condition Nazi across the board, and now I don't look at anything that isn't top notch or can be easily made so.

Hopefully the case work makes this Speedy presentable again, because it really is a dog in its current state, but if another 105.012 pops for $1,000, I am pretty sure I would buy it again, as would most everyone on this forum 👍

I like the watch, I'd wear it as a nice beater. So the watchcase is going to have material built up, then reshape it? Looking forward to the after pics. $1k for a vintage speedy in today's market is a steal, nice.

I'm a bit of a cynic so I say$1000 for that watch is a great deal. Wear it and enjoy it. You won't need to worry every time you bump your wrist and only an Omega WIS would notice the case condition. It's a Speedy, it's been worn before and can be worn again instead of sitting in a box only being brought out to show off to friends or post WRUW pics.

The pushers are press fit, so the mid case is an original 105.012, and my watchmaker emailed this morning that new pushers were on their way from Omega.

No one commented on the bracelet you put on your speedy from the SM300 acquisition. I believe it followed the 1039's and preceded the 1171's. It was used on the Speedmaster Professionals for about 2-3 years. So, the proper fit makes sense. These should be worth more than the early 1171's, but because they are not numbered, the prices have not caught up yet.

Lies that is a different case!!!!! Is your watch maker named Jesus? He brought that case back from the dead!
