Have you pulled the crown out of the case yet Philippe?
All the goo might be stuck to the movement too, I know mine was. Pulling the crown and stem out of the case might be just what you need to get this done, the dial and movement might come out all in one piece.

Cheers, Michael

PS,
I think the dial will look great with a good, nicely done relume.

We did not pull the crown out yet because my watchmaker is afraid to brake something as the watch was probably never been open before.
Maybe we try today.
My friend watchmaker told me it was the fist time in more than 30 years of work he had a ring so hard to pull out !!

And yes I will send the dial for a good relume
Thanks for your help.

Philippe

Philippe, pls...... Step One: unscrew the crown. Turn the case over. Turn the crown until the split stem faces up. Wriggle a bit and hope, everything comes out ... A few gentle blows with your hand at the case bottom might help.
If not , grab the crown and pull firm until the split stem separates. Stem damage is much cheaper to fix than finding a new dial....Once everything is out, do not use a soldering iron. Use a hair dryer to warm up everything. Not heat up. Patience is the key. The distance ring should be brass. Warming up will seperate it from the dial combo. Good luck ! Kind regards. Achim

Forgot something: once mvmt dial and stuck ring are out, first remove the hands and then the dial with the stuck ring from the movement. Easier to handle the " unstucking " then...

Thanks for your help .This morning we took the crown off and we did extract the ring it was VERY strong I had to pull up and turn together .It was very hard to extract the mouvement and dial too they were totaly stuck to the watch body.
The mouvement is not working but looks ok.The dial is full of sticky rubber from the old ring.I was thinking of sending it like that for relume and they will probably have the right things to clean it. For relume James Hyman ? or do you have other good dress .Do you have an idea of the budget?
The step ring is not in too good condition now . I can fix it but if any one has a spare one to sell it would be great.
regards
Philippe

Well done getting the ring out.

For James Hyman, look at his Instagram and you can contact him there - he can give the best estimate for his work.

If you prefer, he has a website:

The dial looks in very poor condition though so may need more than just a re-lume.

Good luck, Chris

The eBay one sold 30 minutes ago - somebody is watching this thread as it was available when I saw it earlier.

Edit: I just re-read your post and it seems they had forgotten to take the ad down?

The Hovigs one still shows as being in stock.

Cheers, Chris

Don't hesitate . Buy the Hovigs one. Quick . You are not the only one, who needs one.....if that's gone too, because you wait too long, then you wait ....
