·Thank you for the feedback. As you correctly state, fair evaluation is relevant to the price. The bezel shows indeed wear but luckily it is a DON of 50 years old. I have seen far worse on pictures (never saw a similar watch in real life). You say the case is pretty polished. Is there a standard existing to express the level of case condition? Like a 0 is totally untouched and a 10 would mean totally distorted? How would you rate the case on such imaginary scale?
The watch was regularly worn and I honestly prefer this fair condition to a completely restored example where it is hard to trace what exactly has been done (or not).
I'm not an investor, rather a real amateur with plenty love for the Speedmaster and in my (limited) experience this is a rather special one.
Is the dial blemish free? I can't tell based on your pics, but I suspect the crystal makes the dial look like it has a few imperfections. What is the condition of the bracelet? I have no idea how expensive those are to repair if there are issues. But these all need to factor in on the cost.
I am not sure if there is a standard for rating cases. But it comes down to your comfort level (of course with price included).
For example, my gold speedy, you can see the lugs are polished, and frankly if this was a steel watch, no way would I ever buy one this polished. Also, for me it does appear less noticeable when on a gold bracelet vs the leather strap. So I plan to buy a gold bracelet at some point in the future. A member here on OF was kind enough to let me borrow his bracelet for a couple of weeks. Currently my watch is with Omega, as the main spring broke and I have to send it in for service.
