Selling my 1969 Seamaster Chronostop 145.007 with the uncommon pulsimeter bezel. I am really fond of this watch and sorry to sell it but am hoping to see it off to a good home. I have another big Omega chronograph so I am just not wearing this watch as much as it deserves.

The Chronostop line includes a bunch of gloriously oddball watches, with the Chronostop Seamaster models detailed in this wonderful Omega Stories piece. I’ve owned the Chronostop Genève variant as well, which, like this one, was bought out of curiosity, enjoyed much more than I expected, and finally parted with to go to a more dedicated collector than myself.

This fixed-bezel variant has a pulsations dial for checking pulses, very useful whether to confirm that someone is alive or to pretend that you’re a doctor (I have done both). As with all Chronostop models, the orange chronograph timer is activated by the single pusher. To stop, you push and hold in order to read the elapsed time down to the tenth of a second, and then release the pusher, causing the timer hand to fly back to zero. The austere timer function and the all-business dial combine with the large 41mm C-style case to give Chronostop Seamasters an appealing tool-watch seriousness with just the right amount of dawn-of-the-70s grooviness. I thought I would hate a watch with no second hand—my god, this thing could be set up to 59 seconds off and I wouldn’t even know—but in fact it is very enjoyable to wear and easy to set. The 865 movement is a stripped-down version of the 861 of Speedmaster fame.

The case is unpolished and shows its brushing. It has seen some use, primarily by me, but is pretty free of dings, save for a divot on the lower left lug. The caseback has some tool marks that I’m proud to say, in this rare case, were not my doing.

The 1170 bracelet has all its links, or at least it would fit a much beefier wrist than mine. A full-sized bracelet can be hard to find in Japan; I have it choked up pretty far to fit on my arm so it has a lot of room to let out. The endlinks fit OK but could be improved. The bottom link may be a little bent on the right side, given the reflections it shows from certain angles. Looking through various posts about this model on the forum, it seems I was lucky to find this model with its original bracelet and endlinks. I’m sure it would look handsome on a strap as well, but this watch plus bracelet is a nice package.

The crystal is the original flattop one. I’ve buffed some scratches out, but more are visible in these photos than are apparent to the naked eye, most prominently the scuff over the 24 between the 7 and 8 indices. I noticed the schmutz over the 11 index after I took the first photos; the later photos, taken with my phone, are worse but have that wiped off.

This watch was fully serviced in November 2022, though I’m not sure I have the receipt. It runs great. I was wearing it a lot up until recently and it has been a great companion. I’m sure whoever gets it will enjoy it just as much, if not more.

I’m asking US$1195 (now $999 this week only) via Wise, PayPal, or bank draft for this recently serviced, good-condition Omega Chronostop Seamaster with its uncommon dial and sought-after original bracelet, plus shipping and insurance from Japan. Please your consideration.

Ebay has introduced an additional week-long hoop for Japan residents to leap through, so bumping this with a special $999 price. Your dollars go a long way in Japan, especially this week!
