Potential eBay purchase: Constellation 168.029

Hi all,

I've been studying up on Constellations for the past couple of months, aiming eventually to purchase either a 168.045 or maybe nice a C-Case. I've read quite a few "does this look good?" threads and practicing with eBay listings. I think this one looks pretty decent: https://www.ebay.ca/itm/1970-Vintag...e=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649

My assessment: Correct writing and font, correct hands, lume present on hands and dial. Correct dial and bezel in good shape. Case has correct brushing, but unsure if it's over-polished (back in particular). Medallion is crisp. Movement is all the same colour, no signs of rotor rubbing; some discolouration, but not probably okay? Correct reference number and movement. No shot of the open case, which makes me worry it could have some rust or pitting. No gasket shown either.

Is this a good example to bid on? What did I miss in my analysis? Thanks in advance, and for all the great content I've enjoyed up until now!

Nice homework! Be interesting to see how much this goes for, considering I鈥檓 looking at a local c-case too, albeit one with a polished bezel. 馃槑

I tend to agree, but I love the look of the 168.045 with the integrated bracelet, so this one caught my eye. I think this one will come down to price.

Personally I wouldn't buy anything from them simply based on the number of horrible over-polished redials they offer.

Wow, nasty. Well that does give me pause.

It's not easy picking up on things but, there is evidence of rotor rub as marked in red below and the movement appears greasy/oily, for example, as circled in green. If you see these things, budget for a service.

Cheers, Chris

I'll add movement hack jobs to the list.

Is the crystal supposed to have the omega symbol on it?
