This term essentially has no meaning. It exists as an attempt to increase the desirability (i.e. value) of lesser watches by recklessly associating them with the Patek Philippe Calatrava.
Nice catch. Is it a 218 movement? I ask because each time I've seen that particular broken crosshair configuration (I.e. broken between the word "Universal" and the shield), it has been on a 218 (including on one of my own). Could be a
coincidence. Anyhow, congrats. I also am especially fond of the non-dates.
The hunt is over... I always wanted a stainless steel, no date Polerouter with microtor and black dial. The watches I have seen were either very expensive, rotten, redialed, or the movement was rubbish. But unexpectedly, I managed to pull the trigger.
After a long time of searching, I can now present my new old Polerouter Microtor (34mm):
Although hardly visible, the crystal is original and has the UG logo.
Hands, lume and dial seem to be original. Case is somewhat scratched. The crown is UG, but I was told not the correct one (anybody who can help?).
Any comments (pros and cons) appreciated.
Ah so you're the one who ended up buying this! It's quite a nice one, talked to the seller and he sent me a decent offer on the price. Was going to purchase it but I don't think I need another Polerouter in my life right now 馃
Dat original glass tho 馃憤 Congrats M!
One watch is nice, two are already a small collection...馃槈
So that is my personal Universal Geneve "two pieces collection"
Tri-compax from 1945, Polarouter from around 1955
