That lovely case reminds me of this that I hesitated to buy a couple of years ago from an antiques dealer in Vienna. He wanted 4,000 euros for it which was too rich for me at the time and in my head, just going off my gut as I couldn't find another like it, was about double what I would have paid. I did email Longines for info and it tallied with what the dealer said. It still resides in my memory though as it was just gorgeous....34mm exc crown.
Quite an unusual watch, thanks for sharing. If you have a copy of Longines' response, I would be curious to know more.
Hi DD12,
This is the reply I got from Longines:
Thank you very much! Neat that it was originally invoiced to Austria and a dealer in Vienna had it circa 80 years later. Also, great that you asked about the dial and that radium was mentioned in the archive.
You are welcome, I am pleased you think it interesting as I did too and I am by no stretch of the imagination knowledgable of Longines. If I remember the dealer tried to put a military spin on it and that is what put me off, the sales spiel BS, and 4k. There was no markings on the case back. Damn lovely watch though in that very crisp solid looking case.
I have not seen many examples of this reference, and the style of the numerals and hands is unusual for a watch from the late 1930s. I agree, the military spin is BS and 4K is way more than I would spend.

A fabulous example of a great reference. Such a sharp case and a lovely dial with applied markers. Thanks for sharing!
