Well my maximum bid was pretty much 100x what I got it for. Lucky the under bidder wasn't so keen !
And there is another interesting one in there, not quite in the same league as the BP Bund but it shares the German military connection. Any guesses ?

·Bought from a Gilt.com sale a few years ago. This wasn't quite a bargain at the time I think, but was definitely a strange place to find an old Carrera. It was my first vintage watch, but already I knew that this was something special and very rare, so I bought it!

·It was bought more than a year ago, and finding a complete bezel has proven to be nigh on impossible. Here it is with a bezel I eventually found but no insert. Now in the process of having a custom insert made.
So how many times your initial investment did you have to lay out for the (incomplete) bezel?
Also I give up on figuring out which other watch you are referring to. I did pick up on the BP one being the most interesting in the original shot before I kept reading, but I didn't realize it was a BP.

It's funny... the bezel cost around double the price of the watch itself. The insert should hopefully be free, but I am having to wait for it.
The other interesting watch for me is the K.M. Siegerin, which is an watch that was issued to the German navy (kriegsmarine) during World War Two. Not particularly rare or expensive, but certainly interesting. It's down in the bottom left corner. Then to the upper right side of the Siegerin is a Topaz 200 diver which although not working should cover the cost of the bezel if I flip it.

A circa 1915 example with17 screwed down jewels, 4 adj, with straight Swiss damaskeening, and Swiss hallmarked Sterling silver case.
My watchmaker had to sort out an issue with the hairspring.
Bonus: he had a "of the era" French made crystal in his stash to replace the bulbous monstrosity someone had installed.
$90
Still looking for a period correct onion or pumpkin crown if anybody has a source.
