This is my first original Omega that I bought about 4 yrs ago . Before I did bought 3 ' junks' about 17 yrs ago n I sold them away back to where they belong. Then it took me five long yrs to get this 551 with no mistake again n worth the waiting. In my country, there's a lot of filth, copies n 'frankensteins' on the street n in the shop also, waiting to suck your wallet as I've been there. So I did my homework n its worth it, Now there's alot of Vietnam beautiful copies on the street, so if you r coming to Bangkok to buy Omega watches, pls be very cautious 72816

My first Omega, ref. 176.007. Bought new by me on August 30, 1975, so I am not sure if it counts as my first vintage....It has seen constant and hard use for about the first 20 years or so and then languished a bit in a drawer while I was distracted by other temptations. Recently revised by Omega (full movement service, new crystal and hands, some light polishing and still the original dial) and now worn again with pride - as a true vintage!

My first vintage Omega was a 1973 Geneve, cal 1012.

I manually fitted a brown leather strap to the case:

In the meanwhile, it has been sold already. 🙁

Looking at a couple posts in this thread make me realize some of you guyz iz spoilt. Youz are gettin' da benefit of sum of our diplomas from da School of Hard Knocks / eBay campus. 😜

A bit late commenting on this but I thought it needed saying that us new guys really do appreciate the help and advice offered to us by guys like Dennis, Stuart etc................I've lost count on the number of times I've asked an opinion from Dennis on ebay offerings and he's always got back to me, mostly to tell me I've picked another redial!

Thanks guys👍

This Dynamic was a mess when I got it, but it was cheap and I liked the dial.

Some folks think it's gross, but others love it. I've had people offer to buy it from me for more than the price I paid for it (+ service and a few new parts).

That being said, I have another vintage Omega on the way.

A cal 20F from the mid-1920's, with rectangle silver case. OF didn't exist at that time so I could not seek advise on the dial.............. :

I can see the appeal, but I would worry what's on the dial is contagious/mutating....

In person, it doesn't look like anything is growing on the dial, but I can see your point. It has mostly lost coloring and has a few rusty spots here and there.

If a time comes when I have to replace the dial, I'll happily do it.

My seamaster with black textured dial. Bought it early this year. Still waiting to bring it to the watchmaker to get it serviced and change the crown to the correct one. Got the correct crown from chief enabler Dennis, who offered the crown to me free in order to make me buy the watch 😁
