Hi there,

I got find an interesting item at the charity shop. And i think it may be worth some attention. It's a vintage tan colour man's briefcase. Details that caught my attention are metal Omega symbol on the outside of it. SHR.SWIP.2.5 written inside on the metal buttons and word Diana written on the Zipper .Tried to Google it out as much as possible and Omega symbol only comes as luxury watch makers company mark. SHR.SWIP.2.5 comes as vintage identification for Louis Vuitton bags.
And word Diana on the zipper does not say anything. But once written Diana and briefcase, then comes a controversial story about Princess Diana and her lover when she gifted him a briefcase with 16 000 £ to buy a sports car. It happened in between 1980s to 1990s same time when supposedly Omega made briefcases collection according to information found on Internet. PS briefcase looks well made to me,but does not seems real leather. From information found it says that Louis Vuitton company made bags from other material called Canvas. This is all information i was available to get and put together.
It may not be what i am thinking, but the other fun fact is that i found that briefcase in Slough charity shop it's a Berkshire area and Windsor are just 15 minutes away by car.
I am adding photos of this briefcase. Any information appreciated.
Thank you.
Gintare

I don't think Omega watches have ever used that style of Omega symbol, so I don't think there is a connection. You can look through the Omega history page and see if you can find an example of that symbol. Start at the begging:

Ah, you found the rare and collectible Omega-Louis-Vuitton briefcase with the custom made zipper pull made for Princess Diana. Remarkably, it was made of a unique type of canvas that looks like fake leather.

More seriously, it's possible that it was a promotional item associated with Omega watches, but the logo doesn't look promising.

Thank you for your reply. Who knows maybe it is,Princess Diana was animal activist, so maybe didn't wanted to use animal material
Anyway it just very interesting item,so that's why came here for information. Maybe it's nothing special, but still remains a mystery

It certainly is a nice vintage leather briefcase. Not something I have seen many examples of. I think the Omega symbol is cool even if there is no official connection. Enjoy, and welcome to the forum.

I’m going to point out that hundreds (if not thousands) of items have been marketed with the Omega logo and or name, and none have any connection with the watch company. They don’t have exclusive use of the symbol or name. For example, I have a shaving brush made by the Omega brush company in Italy, which is well known in the shaving world but has no connection to the watch company.

I doubt your briefcase has any connection with Omega watches. It most likely is from some long dead company.

To wit, my lovely Omega Bauer bike, a must have accessory for any Speed Master.

Yep, and for some reason every multi-meter seems to have a connection to Omega. 😉

You can if it is waterproof rated and well maintained, but don't try to mow the lawn with it on you.

It might, however, be useful should you have an electric lawn mower.

Nothing to do with Diana of royalty fame, it would seem.
