This. I know the square root of eff all about fashion but I thought he looked the dog's bollocks!

And let's not forget he has actually won a race this season albeit a sprint one. And in a car that appears to be a bit of a turd, pending and significant upgrades.
I did too. I love how he kept English tailoring and nods to his heritage, while everyone else went Harlem Renaissance aka Zoot suit inspired.

The moonshine gold green dial Speedy is a pretty stunning watch
Oh, absolutely agree! I don't really have the complexion for yellow gold, but there are a few of the gold Speedies I would have a tough time choosing between if I ever convinced myself to wear gold (in addition to the complexion, I bump the watch against things often enough, I'd poop squares constantly in gold 😀).

I love the green/moonshine, and both the Sedna/Moonshine with black-subdial ones as well. I don't think I could choose.

I think the Sedna gold and the current Moonshine gold with black subdials look better. The white subdials are clashing too much for me.

Omega seems to be out of the business of doing anything special or interesting for their loyal fans, now it is making watches for the mass market. Boring.
I dont see their logic tbh because this 'mass market' stuff like their gold speedys you end up getting for 50% off a few years down the line - but their stainless steel stuff sells like hot cakes ?? I think they are so scared of going back to the days where they over did the LE's and in some peoples eyes devalued the LE's - maybe the pendulum has to swing in the opposite way now before it rebalances

Lots of watches are nice, they make a solid impression for visitors. But I bet they have problems to sell them. Just comparing the prices on the secondary market shows that buying gold watches for retail is almost not worth. Hence, the butiques have many watches to show 😀

This makes me wonder whether the profit from selling one gold watch in a butique is worth when compared to the one or two hundred hesalite/sapphire speedy pros sold at the same time... I made up the ratio but would be surprised if it were lower.

And all of the recent steel speedies sell in minutes. Or have a waiting list.

Maybe gold watches are a matter of prestige for the brand, so they can showcase them. But I doubt they make them big money.

Yeah, it is called 'Anchoring'. If you can convince someone that your watches are worth $30k (for a gold one), they will think they are getting a DEAL buying a lower-priced model. So perhaps the gold models looking insanely priced makes the stainless ones for absurd prices easier to swallow 😀

I buy them for the mechanical complexity and cool factor, not as jewelry. But as far as jewelry goes, an $8, 9, 12k speedy is all you need.
