·If you're a Pogue fan (and every watch collector should have one, IMHO) then you should get yours out on Tuesday 16th November, as it's International Pogue Day.
(SCWF's Mr Jones has updated the banner given what we now know about the other automatic chrono on Skylab 4... Snuck Into Space - HODINKEE Magazine)
Anyway. Bonhams auctions has occasionally flogged off the odd Seiko 6139-6002 or variant (just in case you're of the opinion that you can't call a Pogue a Pogue unless it's a yellow 6139-6005). Here was one that hammered in London in September 2021:
A later "no-text" 6030R dial with a very faded (or is that a replacement) chapter ring and a pretty crusty looking dial. Aftermarket ebay-job bracelet, and what's happened to the upper pusher? Maybe it's stuck in and the watch is in need of attention. Anyway, didn't stop someone paying £828 / $1131 for it -
Bonhams : Seiko. A stainless steel automatic calendar chronograph bracelet watch 'The Pogue', Ref: 6139-6002, Circa 1978
They present another in the upcoming sale, which looks a lot nicer in many respects:
Bonhams : Seiko. A stainless steel automatic calendar chronograph bracelet watch 'The Pogue', Ref: 6139-7100, Circa 1978
[Leaving aside the description of it being -7100, and the serial number isn't disclosed so we don't know it's from 1978... unless it has the wrong caseback entirely]. It's got a nice thumbprint on the crystal (and on the bracelet?) for sure, and that's definitely an aftermarket bezel, and the dial looks very much like a replacement too...
Caveat Emptor, Pogue Friends...
