I was waiting to have a propane tank filled, and I pulled out my Waltham Vanguard to check the time. Putting the watch back into my pocket, it slipped out of my hand and headed for the pavement! Thank Heaven and my @DaveK lanyard, disaster was averted! Thanks once more, @DaveK !

That should go in the “in the style of J. Peterman” thread 😉

The title of that thread was related to the “parody of a watch sales ad”. I hope this thread of mine didn’t sound like a parody of a lanyard sales ad! Once upon a time, I was carrying a pocket watch on a fob, in my jeans watch pocket. This was a short leather strap with a medallion hanging over the edge of the watch pocket, not fastened to me. I don’t recall how it happened, but my pocket watch ended up on the floor (carpeted). No damage to the watch, thankfully. But I was genuinely thankful for my lanyard today, you may be assured. Pavement is less forgiving than a carpeted floor. for sure,

Not at all a parody- just wonderfully cheeky. I love when utility pays off.
