Lately I've found myself being interested in vintage watches and Omega Constellation in particular. Lookning to buy my first Constellation I've spent som time in here as a guest to learn from you. This watch was up for sale in a serious online shop, but there are some things that don't seem correct to me. The watch was listed as a ref 168.005 with cal 561 and a serial number dating it to 1964. All sems to be correct so far, right? My concerns were the tapering of the doglegs, the overpolished backcase and the inside of it, and the dial. I spent hours trying to find a similar dial on the Internet, to see if it came from a later model but found nothing. I read Desmond's two part dial-lecture and still the dial makes no sense to me. Has anyone seen it anywhere? The hour markers are not on the same radius as the minute markers, the letter n in Constellation looks off period as does the M on the the top. The second hand crosses the minute markers.

Real watch, fake dial, or just all fake?

Welcome @CuriousGeorge
Nothing obviously wrong with the inner case back and case generally but there is indeed something strange about those dogleg facets -almost as though the lower right has been re-cut. So, well spotted.
As @cristos71 says, poor redial.
Unless this was declared, I’d stop shopping at the ‘serious on-line shop’ if I were you.
Hope that helps.

Thanks a lot! I'm still a total noob at this and it feels good to get confirmation that I was right.

Haha, "serious" on-line shop was not right though. I guess I meant they came off as that when I talked to them about polishing.
