Just saw the new Baz Luhrmann Elvis film at the Cinema (so no photos). Austin Butler does a good job as does Tom Hanks.
Anyway spotted a Gold Cap Connie (maybe Seamaster) from his German draft. Also an Accutron Astronaut on bracelet and a bund style strap. There a a few more to spot for the hawk eyed amongst you when the DVD is out….

In those days a simple digital (Seiko CX003) was priced higher than a Speedmaster (ST 1450022) "the first watch on the moon."

What is RA Google?

Yikes, I have been auto corrected and I can't remember what it was meant to be, probably just 'researched Google'.
Normally I proof read after a post but must have skipped that process on this one.

I have not been able to make it through all 24 current pages but I did search key words in the title
"The girl, the gold watch and everything." Quite a fun made for TV movie, that had some of the lowest ratings of all time. I forget what it was up against. Took years to find a copy on You tube. Silly twilight zone episode of a gold watch that stops time, which the only thing inherited from a rich uncle. Some pretty good time stopping sfx from the 1980s.
Was successful enough to warrant a sequel "the girl, the gold watch and dynamite."

I suspect that fell foul of the no sponsorship no branding rules back in the day… and like the Dukes of Hazard there may have been more than one stunt watch… but still needs some pictures……

Interesting multiple daisy chains of talent from that film leading to the man from uncle and a very young Sean Connery in Hell Drivers…

Just watch Marathon man for the first time in a while. Great atmospheric cinematography in some scenes.
Paying a Taxi fair with a Rolex GMT and only asking for a dime in change. A good deal even then…

I hope the hasn’t been shown earlier in this thread. Not a movie exactly, though Elvis did star in a lot of them. This one shows him wearing his Hamilton Ventura Electric. He appears to be happy in uniform, so this might be a publicity still.

In a movie called The Edge, the props department was looking for a hunter cased pocket watch which was going to be engraved, and which Anthony Hopkins would wear. The movie was filmed in Kananaskis Country, west of Calgary, but the story line had it happening in Alaska. A friend sold the props people a Hamilton 973, hunter cased pocket watch which needed a glass. I fitted a glass. In the movie, Hopkins needed a compass which he didn’t have. So he popped the glass out of the watch, popped off the minute hand, set the hand into the glass, then set the glass into puddle. Voila! A compass! Two Omega Bond watches were in the movie as well. Both had the case back machined plain, for engraving, as well. (Never did get paid for the glass!)

I was going to post about Mosquito Coast and the Omega that Harrison Ford wears, gives to Haddie, who then trades it for a small boat BUT in searching out a Google Image of the film + watch it seems it was already covered in depth (and rather nicely at that!) here at OF.
Great film and I vividly recall the Omega scene in the theatre back when I first saw the film in 1986.

The Speedmaster is one of the main characters in a movie named “The Terrorists” starring Sean Connery and Ian McShane.

Just watched "The Guns of Navarone" for the first time in 30+ years and there are two quick cuts back-to-back of Gregory Pack and then a Nazi officer checking the time on the same GRUEN watches

Stretching it a bit but there was a nice vintage sub-seconds in the Bauhaus She’s in parties video. Which is about film and Marilyn Monroe. Not a bad watch selection for her in a music video, looking at the auctioned Blancpain she did wear..She's acting her reaction.

Darn! I watched that a couple of weeks ago and didn't notice any watches 🙁

Film action is good though so perhaps that's why. Did enjoy seeing Tante Ju a few times 👍
