PLEASE HELP ME IDENTIFY THESE WATCHES FROM AROUND 1957 AND 1971

I am seeking advice about two men’s Omega watches that I own. I shall call these Model one and Model two. Given your warnings about opening the back I have not attempted it so the information I can give you is limited.

Model one was presented to my father to mark 25 years service with Iraq Petroleum Company in 1957 as shown in the inscription on the back. It has not been used since he died in 1992 nor has it been serviced since then. I have no knowledge of any servicing while he owned it.

Model two was a 21st birthday gift to me from my parents in 1971. I wore it every day for many years. It only needed winding if it was unused for several days otherwise the movement of the wrist kept it working. But it stopped working properly about 20 years ago. An attempt at servicing by a watchsmith did not seem to make much difference.

If wound up or shaken, both watches will work in the sense that the second hand starts moving round but neither seems to keep time properly. From their colours I am guessing that Model one is 18 carat gold and Model two is 9 carat gold.

Neither of my daughters want the watches and given the likely difference in value it would be impossible to give one to each anyway so I want to consider the best options for disposing of them. I would prefer to sell them as they are and not for their gold value though I am aware that if I am right about gold content the gold value of the 18 carat watch is significant.

I am hoping you can identify the model for each watch, confirm the dating and gold purity and give ballpark valuations.

As I say, I would much prefer to sell to someone who values these watches as they are. If this is not a viable option and I decide to sell for the gold scrap value, can the movements be removed and would they be of any value to members of your forum? And finally, can you recommend a watch expert in Oxfordshire or nearby Who would be able to safely examine the watches for further advice? I know of John Gowing in Oxford market but are there others?

Thank you in advance

We’re always happy to help but you really need to post sharp, focused photos

Please post better photos. And for valuation, you need to determine if the watch cases are solid gold vs gold-filled, and what purity of gold.
